    Off ground elevated bed?

I did not attach mine.  Just stacked them in place.  It's not worth using mortar, as there is no solid footer under them.  I just kick them into place.  As time goes on, they will slowly absorb into the ground - at which time, I may or may not add more layers.  The big difference, is that I...

    Ghost Issue, Need Help Please.

Yes, pH is not the end-all.  If you have a high pH soil or substrate, you can largely mitigate that by adding copious amounts of organic matter, rather than trying to fight the soil chemistry.  That's a battle that you'll never win.  Side note: If the Alaska 5-1-1 worked, that's great news.  But...

    Ghost Issue, Need Help Please.

How did you make this determination?  Was it an antagonistic deficiency, or just a regular "not enough" type?

    Off ground elevated bed?

I wasn't originally going to post this, because the OP had mentioned raised beds.  But, for a budget idea...  I wanted to emulate growing in real soil - which no container will do, unless it possesses an unwieldy dimension.  So, I created my raised beds that actually touch the earth. (our soil...

    White Flys

Also...  I think that those of us that live near water have it far worse.  They don't seem to be quite as bad once you get inland.  Out here in the coastal areas, we don't really have great soil tilth, and I think that whitefly seem to be naturally drawn to lush plants - which are out of place...

    White Flys

I can totally sympathize.  Whitefly are also cyclical; one year they're barely there, another year, they're pandemic.  At the point that you're spraying that much stuff, it's not even worth growing the peppers - cause who really wants to eat an insecticide cocktail? . Unfortunately, I'll tell...

    Off ground elevated bed?

Often those are stock tanks, of the type that you can pick up at a Tractor Supply, or other farm and feed store. . While you're there, pick up some electric fence, to keep the dogs away.  The pic just looks like cattle panel of fence mesh, for plant support.

    White Flys

Interesting.  Maybe I'll give that a shot. . Coffee grounds are phenomenal for developing mycelial cultures which aid in nutrient retention.  I've had modest amounts of coffee grounds that culture a vast fungal network in my containers.  Once, I dumped out a 27 gallon tote, and it was white...

    White Flys

Basil is definitely a known companion plant for both tomatoes and peppers.  I doubt the veracity of published claims with regards to the effectiveness of it against whitefly - especially considering that we have tens of species of whitefly in Florida, and they don't all respond to the same...

    White Flys

LOL.  God, I don't mean to sound like the contrarian... I really don't.  But the year before last (cause I didn't have a grow this last season), I had FOUR different varieties of basil, catnip, and Marigold.  Everything went pretty smoothly until the marigold got mealy bug/scale, and then the...

anybody grow 2 hot pepper per pot

Not sure what the difference is from Canada to Florida, but my experience is very much not that.  There is almost always one plant that is a bit smaller - but you get that even when they're grown in different containers.   . I planted these out about 6 weeks ago.  There are more outside of...

    Planting straight from pods

Straight answer - you can plant a pepper right into soil, all day every day, and it will grow.  There is no mold, fruit remnant, etc, that is any kind of detriment.  In fact, the types of molds that grow on seeds with fruit remnant, are beneficial, and arguably, should be put to use, wherever...

    Off ground elevated bed?

No, the OP was right.  Older pressure treated wood was a toxicity suspect, and a lot of advice recommended against using it for growing food.  Can't recall, but I think the worry was arsenic.  . Conversely, not all cedar is created equally, so OP, if you use that, do your homework.

    White Flys

I use coffee grounds anyway.  I see literally no difference. . It is often claimed that coffee grounds repels ants.  I posted up a video around here somewhere, that shows ants industriously moving about, through almost 1" of top dressed coffee grounds. . I appreciate the suggestion, but...

Morons once again doing what morons do best

I had this very same problem, myself...  My education up to 8th grade carried me all the way through to graduation.  Sad, really.

Morons once again doing what morons do best

Empathy is an interesting subject.  I keep hearing people talk about "emotional intelligence" - which, on paper, sounds great.  The concept is right, I think.  But, the simple fact is, a clever psychopath would outscore the average person on an "Emotional IQ Test".  Why?  Because they know how...

Morons once again doing what morons do best

For what it's worth...  I spent part of my education in a private school.  It's not that I don't recognize the value of a "good education".  I just question what is considered "good", by whom, and for what reason.  Education isn't a single thing.  And in a somewhat homogeneous collective, it...

Morons once again doing what morons do best

Hahaha...  You're alright, man...  I'm really not the sensitive type :D . There's a lot of truth in what you write, but also a lot of contradiction.  It reminds me of the old phrase, "if you stand for nothing, you'll fall for anything".  I've always believed that's just a way to justify bad...

Morons once again doing what morons do best

Nothing is ever really about toilet paper and greed.  And ADHD is an imaginary catch-all container - for both idiots and geniuses - who can't be controlled by those who thrive on groupthink. (see what I did there?) . There are problems, there are symptoms, and then there are symptoms of...

Morons once again doing what morons do best

Are you suggesting that public school systems are BETTER for stupid people? . I might argue that they're only useful for advancing the agenda of whatever idiots/geniuses are running the show.  Which I'm pretty certain is what stettoman was saying.  There is always a natural progression/decline...
