All the family up in Joplin are OK. None live in the storms path. Most are just south or west of where it went. I can't imagine what it's like for the victims. Many are homeless, jobless, no possessions, lost family and friends, and got that way in just a few minutes. It's gonna take awhile...

I have heard marigolds can help with pests but to be effective must be planted in large numbers. I have also heard they may even attract some pests. They look nice and are easy enough to grow so, I'll keep 'em either way. :D

If you can grow year round in your climate, you should get results really quickly. If I were trying to improve on my bhuts, I think I would try for earlier production and larger pods. So far I haven't eaten one and thought hmmm, wish that were just a little bit hotter. :)

I would think bigger is better with container size. With the number of plants you guys have, potting everything into 15 gallon pots would be a huge project. Maybe you could treat each plant individually. Some will benefit from bigger containers more than others. Just start potting to larger...

Preying Mantis are really cool bugs but I never saw one eat an aphid.
