    Shishito peppers are the shishit

Just cooked up my first batch of home grown shishitos last night. Pretty crazy how productive these plants are. There was easily this many pods still left on the plants. Going to let this next batch ripen up to red and see what the difference is.

Portland stole Austin's "Keep Austin Weird" motto? Now if we could just convince them to steal all the Californians that moved here we might have enough room for Rawk.

    Food Poisoning

Sounds like safest thing to do is stick to a strict diet of nothing but hard liquor.

Pinch and rub method is definitely superior to stretch and rake. Oh wait we're talking about pizza.

Tom's 24 plants in Southern New Mexico

Ah that sucks but at least the storm only got 1. Looks like you had some beautiful plants last season after you got the nutes sorted out, hopefully 2016 turns out even better.

    Devv's 2015 - 16, Life is good!

That same storm hit here last night but luckily didn't drop any hail. It woke me up with some incredibly loud thunder though. Looks like more rain incoming Wednesday through Saturday too if the forecast is to be believed.   Those Jimmy Nardellos look awesome. Those are supposed to be a sweet...

    TXCG 2016

It's hard to see from pics but the bed is actually 2 cinder blocks deep although only my 2 plots are actually filled all the way to the top of the 2nd cinder block since I've been buying and adding compost. Since I have a good 12" of soil I'm not sure there would be any benefit to adding a 3rd...

    Fermenting urine for CO2

CO2 supplementation is definitely a thing but probably wholly pointless if you have adequate ventilation and definitely cost prohibitive if you are just growing peppers.   You can read all about it in studies or on cannabis forums but the basic idea is that under ideal growing conditions...

hydroponic Leaf Curling problem, Help with ID!*Hydroponic Peppers*

Here is the label for the one I was looking at, it has dilution ratios for different plants. Concentration is only 0.235% imidacloprid (99.765% other ingredients)   Link

If you do go with imidacloprid be sure to read the label though because it can have a pretty long pre-harvest interval. They Bayer one I was looking at this year had a 21 day PHI.

Couple pod shots:   Shishito #1:     Shishito #2: There's a lot more on this one than it looks like but impossible to get a decent pic     PA 353 Red #1:   These have such cool looking pods       PA 353 Red #2:     Cumari:   In 2013 the pods were upright, these ones are pendant. Not sure if...

    TXCG 2016

I'm beginning to think I might have planted a couple too many plants, going to have a pepper forest before long. The lemon drops are starting to take over the annuum bed & I'm really kicking myself for screwing up the far right row and planting the orange jal in front of the shishito. That...

hydroponic Leaf Curling problem, Help with ID!*Hydroponic Peppers*

I almost always fight broad mites on a couple plants every spring & have pretty good luck with spinosad and azamax. I keep spinosad on hand for thrips & azamax for aphids and everything else that chews on plants and one or the other will usually knock mites out after a couple applications. Make...
