How long to keep pinching buds?

Oh yeah, all those plants are way past the point where pinching buds matters. At that size fruiting won't slow down growth one bit.

How long to keep pinching buds?

You can pinch buds as long as you like, peppers continue flowering indefinitely after they start until they die. Most of the time I don't even bother pinching buds on plants that make relatively small peppers like lemon drops but do pinch the first few on plants that make large pods. My rule of...

    The thread of Creepy Crawlies

Found a whole army of oleander aphids on this Net-vein Milkvine (Matelea reticulata) near my community garden. Looks like they mostly feed on milkweed type plants and aren't the same kind that attack peppers thankfully.   Absolutely covering this thing

    Could Somebody Take a Look?

Weird white trail is from a leaf miner. You see them from time to time but generally not in large enough numbers to be problematic in this area.    Take a piece of white paper and put it underneath the plant and give it a few good taps, particularly around the new growth or any open flowers if...

    TXCG 2016

They actually arrived a bit over a month ago. Shipped March 31st arrived on the 2nd & I finally managed to get them from our mailroom on the 4th of April.   So far the cutting looks alive, with any luck it will clone & I'll have a 2nd plant. This will be better anyway since there was no way I...

    Aquaponics and Peppers

Yeah with hydro aeration is key. Even for flood & drain type systems it doesn't hurt to aerate the water in the res. Without dissolved oxygen in the water the roots rot.

    Shishito peppers are the shishit

      That sounds like a plan.

    Shishito peppers are the shishit

I don't think they would make a very good powder while green, that might change if you let them ripen all the way to red. I'll have to experiment with that.

    Shishito peppers are the shishit

I have never tried padron peppers so I couldn't tell you. I looked them up though and it looks like they should be pretty similar, the shishitos are just a bit larger/longer. I'm pretty impressed with my shishito pepper plants so far, both are absolutely loaded with pods & are quite vigorous...

    Shishito peppers are the shishit

Definitely worth picking up those shishito plants if they're still around, they seem to be pretty dang prolific and are very early season compared to everything else I'm growing. That aleppo pepper powder is pretty tasty too, I first had it on some kebabs at a restaurant a few months back and...

    Shishito peppers are the shishit

    Shishito peppers are the shishit

These are my new favorite thing. Toss em in olive oil then cook in a dry cast iron skillet over med-high heat until they blister up and blacken then sprinkle with salt. I've probably eaten 2 pounds of these in the past 3 days.   A bit over a pound's worth I picked up at Central Market the other...

    wanted WTB Biker Billy Jalapeno's

Around here in the summer time all the Mexican markets carry red ripe jalapenos that are delicious so I've never really bothered growing Jals. The ones at the Mexican markets tend to be significantly hotter than the ones I can find in normal grocery stores too.    Might have to save seeds from...
