    AJIJOE'S 2012 GROW LOG

Garden looks fantastic Joe! I am still kicking myself for not making the time to start seeds this year. We are having a great season weather wise down here in the desert. Your Peach Bhut Jolokia's are by far what I am going to be missing the most this season. Next year I will be planting about...

    Alright, whats the deal?

Yes, for me it is not even close. The powder is great to bring things up a notch but does not compare in heat to a fresh pepper. Chris's Chocolate Thunder is the only exception and even then it does not last nearly as long a a fresh pepper. Powder gives me a 20-30 second burn at say 40% of the...

    Beaglestorm vs. 2012 Grow Log

Thanks for the suggestions. I decided to just try a few more extra easy to grow Serrano plants and they seem to be doing ok. Much better than last year's c.chinense plants in the shade. And my C. Pub - Rocoto is actually doing very well on the rim of the shade. Let's see if we get any pods...

    CMPMAN1974 - 2012 Grow Log - Started 2/26/12

Chris, I think you have had more heat this season than we have had down here in the desert. I am kicking myself for not stating seed this season as we had a very mild May and June which let my CCN plants actually pod up for the first time ever before august. Hope the heat breaks for you and the...

    vendor Junglerain.com?

It is hard to find someone nicer than Grant! He has a great site with a ton of unique seeds.

    Peppers wanted (Please read!)

One thing to keep in mind since you already said that you are 13.... is that these superhot pods could potentially be considered a very dangerous thing for an adult to send to a minor. If it is some new mexico green chile maybe not so much but scorpions or 7's could easily lead to a very very...

    chinense trinidad scorpion butch t

You can pretty much just ignore the pictures. They are not photos of pods taken by or grown by Hirts. The first is obviously not scorpions. The third picture on the link you listed is a photo of a Butch T pod I took for my review of Pepperlover.com's Butch T's. I don't know who took the second...

    Beaglestorm vs. 2012 Grow Log

Thanks Conor... Looking forward to giving them a try next year. Thanks SC, I am not growing very many untested varieties this season but hopefully I will be able to win a few auctions this fall to review some good new ones. The wife was really afraid when she saw the steel beams delivered...

    Silver Surfer's 2012 Season Shots

Breathtaking as always! Do you plant on a new site every year? If not, how do you avoid having to rotate crops.

    Beaglestorm vs. 2012 Grow Log

Thanks! I suggested that to my wife... she did not even bother to respond. LOL I need to cut the trees above but they are 50 year old Mulberry trees. Not a easy weekend task... it will have to wait till the winter. Thanks, and Yes, leftover scrap steel (I know what your thinking ...Who has 3...

    Beaglestorm vs. 2012 Grow Log

After disappearing for the last 6 months I have finally got time now to start growing some chile. I did not have the time to start any plants from seed this year but I did get a nice selection from Cross Country Nurseries, The Chile Pepper Institute, and my local Nursery (OK OK I also bought a...

    Another Seller 'Borrowing' Pictures

Really, it's not a problem and I have no hard feelings. Especially since you were writing a blog.... besides at least you tried to give credit. If you had known it was my pic, I know you would have given me credit. I really do do this for fun. I take the pictures for my reviews and am more than...

    Another Seller 'Borrowing' Pictures

I had to look on Hirt's amazon page for it as it was not on Hirt's main site... I guess flipping and mirroring the image makes them feel less dirty about using somebody else's photo. LOL

    Another Seller 'Borrowing' Pictures

Got me thinking to see if one of the popular sellers had removed my Butch T pic from his website yet. I noticed it last year and the description said seeds coming soon. I figured that meant he was growing his own plants and would have seeds once they produced. I also figured he would take his...

I ordered Wednesday night and got my UPS Ground tracking number the next morning for delivery next Wednesday. . UPS says it weighs 47 pounds! I hope it is not just rocks when I open the box. I tried looking for some of those auctions when someone posted about that last year. I don't think...

At least they were nice enough to photoshop out your copyright that you usually put in the lower corner. Or did you not put it on this one?

Best Deal on Botanicare Gallons for Foliar Feeding

I will start off by saying that I know this will not be for everyone, and I know there are a ton of much less expensive alternatives that probably work just as well. So please keep in mind that I am posting this for people that do like using Botanicare stuff. Yes, using Alaska fish fertilizer...

    YumYumYellow's first try at superhots

Your plants look like they are in the shade. How much direct sun (hours) will they get where you planted them. Will it be morning, midday, or afternoon sun? Last year, my planting beds were half under a big tree. The half under the tree had plants that we 1/5 the size of the ones that got direct...

    Spacing in raised garden?

18" apart only if you absolutely have to. 24" apart is a nice happy medium that I use 28" if you have the room. Scorpions and Bhuts will get huge in the ground so to answer you question you can accommodate 6 plants without over crowding.
