Like JR suggested, its likely an unknown f2 cross
IMO its impossible for the Butch T to be a Cumari cross since it has always been stable.
Bts can have a yellow phase but it depends on time of year, ripening time etc.
Potawie's Scorpion-Butch T 2007, rarely seen yellow phase
Green bells are generally good for texture/ crunch but not so much in cooked salsas/sauces, and they don't really add a whole lot of flavor. Probably best to let the pods fully ripen for full flavor
You still won't get much sun in the winter and you'll be using lots of energy. If you're just trying to keep plants alive without poding, it may work but it still seems to me like a waste of resources.
Even with a woodstove, I only use my greenhouse from April to May and then again in Oct. Even if you you could keep it heated , there is likely not enough sun in the winter to justify the fuel costs. Probably best to start plant indoors around January and move them into the greenhouse around...
I cut mine down to a stump and then trim roots and pot down before bringing indoors. If you don't cut it way back then really be on the watch for aphids and other pests that won't have natural predators
+1 on the German red strawberry, its one of my all-time favorites for taste.
Romas are OK but I find there are many more flavorful paste/plum types out there. San manzanos grown in Italy are always on the top of my list but grown in my climate they are OK, but not excellent
Several people have been burned by Duffy's claim that these(and the reds) are C. chinenses when they are obviously C. annuum mushroom/squash type peppers
Natural predators are the only thing that works for me with aphids but they seem to be most affective in the spring. For overwintering I cut plants way back to a stump
Scotch bonnets are C. chinenses. I don't think there is any debate about it with chileheads :)
"A Grade A Scotch bonnet is expected to:
have a cup and saucer shape or look like a Scottish man's bonnet (tam)
have four or five lobes
be 1.5 inches wide
have a stalk no longer than 1 1/4 inches...
Pods will continue to ripen but branches will likely eventually start to die off with out much light and no new pods will form. I usually cut back plant tops and roots and let them go semi-dormant until spring. This saves a lot of work killing aphids which love new green growth and lack of...
Personally I was very dissapointed with the heat and flavor of the pc-1 but I guess it depends on your seeds source. I've seen results of 6208 SHU(ecoseeds) and 81984(Reimers) but never buy from Reimers
