    Premature terminal buds?

Just to add a bit of data to help you decide what to do.  Last year I cut the buds off half my young plants and left the buds on the other half as an experiment.  In the end there was no noticeable difference between the plants when they were fully grown, both in size, branching, or pod count. ...

Turbo 2015 Pepper Growing: Keeping It Simple (Stupid)

I setup a hoop house on my first raised bed and put a recording thermometer in it.  I'm still a week or two from plant out, but I wanted to get a feel for what the temps in the hoop house can range, and if I need to put ventilation holes in it.   Today's high was 77F, and the recorded high...

Got the bed in place and leveled.  Added a gradient so water flows down and away from the house, and put a layer of gravel in to help with drainage.    Next up: landscaping cloth on top of the gravel, then start filling it in

Quick question on interpreting the data.  Are the two numbers the high and low for the day?  What is the last pair of numbers separated by a dash?

    The Pacific Northwest GLOG 2015

I'm chomping at the bit to get plants in the ground.  Everyone is flowering like crazy.  I just built an 8' x 3' raised bed and should have it in place and filled this weekend.  I'm going to experiment with hoop houses on my raised bed this year.  I've read that they can help raise the soil...

Turbo 2015 Pepper Growing: Keeping It Simple (Stupid)

Plant Update: more good growth since they got transplanted into 1/2 gallon pots.  Some of them are really starting to flower like crazy.      My Cheiro Roxa keep blowing me away with how beautiful they are.  If they keep the leaf color all season I may end up growing a lot more next year. ...

    Planting and Spacing

I'm not sure what your asking, but one thing I see that could be a problem is harvesting the Early Jalapenos that are against the wall of the greenhouse.  From the picture, it looks like the Early Jalapeno growing area is 1 meter wide.  Its going to be pretty hard go get the peppers that are up...

It was.  The very fine perlite particles blew away when the fan hit them, but not very much.  I still haven't gone back and topped the rest with perlite.  I've been too busy getting the raised beds ready for planting

Turbo 2015 Pepper Growing: Keeping It Simple (Stupid)

I'm in the middle of building a second raised bed.  When its all finished it'll be18" x 8' x 3', and will hold 12 plants.  Obviously I'm going to dig out the ground on the uphill side so the bed will sit level, flush just under the siding of the house.  Its a south facing wall, and the house...

Manzano Jalapeno Apple & Spices Ferment, Update 1   After 5 days I opened up the fermentation jar and pulled out the tea bag full of spices and then sealed it back up.  The contents have a subtle smell of cinnamon and cloves, but not too strong.  We'll see how well that comes through in the...

Turbo's Slog (Hot Sauce Log with a silent H)

I had some bhuts in the freezer I picked up at a farmers market last summer.  I'm not really into the super hots, but I've got a family member that cant get enough of them, so I thought I'd make a jelly out of them for him.      Some onion, apple ginger, lemon peel, and dried cranberries  ...
