    water Here's some irrigation tips

During most of my 30 years in the employ of the local oil refinery, I also owned an irrigation company. Been out of the irrigation business a few years now. Anyway, I recently put some plants in Walmart "Wally "green bags". In order to get the irrigation water to stay inside the porous...

    Pepper grafting theory. Plausible?

I think it would most certainly work. Several commercial growers and many hobbyist are growing tomatoes grafted onto eggplant rootstocks. In Australia they graft eggplants and tomatoes onto a Devilplant. It’s a member of the Solanaceae (nightshade) family of plants, which also includes...

chinense I "NEED" a good red c. chinense. Which is the most prolific?

Smileyguy, that plant would be worth growing even if it didn't make peppers! Think about how many ornamental plants are being sold that are not nearly as impressive as that bad girl?

What plants likely to survive Gulf Coast winters outdoors?

Hey Frosty, did you cover them only when a freeze approached? Or, did you leave them covered all winter? Hey Bob. Here again, I thought for sure I was further north than Panama City. You might actually be a lil-scrimshun more north than me. That's something to get fired-up about! Just...

    fermenting Pepper mash storage temp?

I think, if anything, the longer ferment probably helped lower your pH. I've tasted mashes that old and they were great. Tabasco ages theirs for 3 years and it never sees a fridge after leaving the processing plant.

Stickman's 2013 Glog - Time To Pull The Plug on 2013

Hey Rick It's not hard to find rock like that down here. There are a few stone-yards around. For the cheapest stones in that size range we'd have to pay .40 cents a POUND! The only other rock we see around here are the ones along railroad tracks and the ones they use to stop the Mississippi...

    third turtle ranch: growth.......

Hey sic Watched that whole video. I've seen some courses around, just never hung around and watched 'em. Honestly, thought they were kinda lame. But, after watching, looked like something I would have really enjoyed with some of my old super-competitive friends. Now, I'd need a cart and...

    Capsidadburn 2013 Less is more

You're exactly right Gary, it's not a yeast we want. It's mostly lactobacillus that we are trying to culture. Most folks try very hard to avoid a yeasty fermentation. But, then again, that horse has been beaten to equine pate'! I did however, manage to grow the furriest, nastiest-looking...

    Windchicken 2013

Back when it was Tenneco Oil Refinery in the 70s early 80s, we used to inject all of our sour-water into 1000 ft. deep wells. This was before we were purchased by Mobil Oil. Just before Katrina struck, I called a guy about drilling a water well for me. He said here in the Chalmette area...

    Capsidadburn 2013 Less is more

Mike, are you refrigerating your pepper ferment? I never saw where RocketMan recommended refrigeration for a ferment. I didn't refrigerate mine and it came out fine. Salty and not hot enough but otherwise, fine. But, I don't think you need to tie-up all that fridge space. I just sent a lady...

    Pulpiteer 2013 Grow Log

I would love to have summa that stuff Andy! A couple of years ago I took 2 loads of horse stable stuff in the lot next to my house. As the weather warmed up and, the poo still wasn't finished cooking, the flies showed up by the grillions! My neighbors wanted to KILL me. Every time we opened...

    Sad day....

We had a gopher once. After many unsuccessful attempts at catching, poisoning and trapping him, I decided to shoot him. So, I backed off about 250 yards, armed with my 300 Win-Mag loaded with 210-grain full-metal jacketed ammo. My first shot missed a little high, hit an oyster shell...
