Was that part of the pot not in direct contact with air? If it was pushed up against another container or something, the roots wouldn't be air pruned. I use smart pots and i've never had that issue
I am having the same problem, also with a big butch T. I think it has to do with air circulation. I had the issue with all my plants, then I cut off all the affected leaves and moved all the other plants outside and they are fine. The butch t is staying inside by the window and since it's growth...
The new growth looks fine, something is/was eating the older leaves. Since you say they are in a new bed, I'm assuming they were recently transplanted, the color on the old growth is prolly just transplant shock.
I place mine 3-4" away from the stem. I use special plant stakes that are 3' long and have little ridges on them that the plant can grab on. I think I got 20 for $10 and reuse them each year. I also don't tie the plant to the stake at all, I just let the weight of the plant lean against the...
i find bottom watering the easiest way to avoid overwatering. Just place your container in a dish/sink full of water and let the soil wick up the water. once soil on the top is wet, its watered. once its bone dry and the pot is light, water again.
I dont fertilize until the plant shows a...
Since you bought the Miracle grow, you might as well use it. I don't care for it because it has too much nitrogen in it, even the tomato formula. I prefer fertilizers with one number way larger than the others e.g.. 10-52-10,3-0-1, etc. that way you can give your plant a more specific feeding...
I got sick of lugging 7 gallon smart pots in and out of the house, so i have just left them out on the balcony for the last couple weeks. its gotten as low as 3C here and they are still fine. Most of my plants are setting fruit even. 24C during the day 3C at night, gotta love spring
I have read somewhere that dog manure is a poor fertilizer because their diet is very high in protein. Apparently protein doesn't break down readily in the soil and provide many beneficial nutrients. Grazing animal manure is basically just supercharged compost, broken down grasses and plants...
I'm thinking more along the line of animal genetics. Say you cross a lion and a tiger to get a liger, the liger would then be sterile. If you cross 2 species, the resulting offspring (F1) is a hybrid, and usually sterile. the whole F1,F2,etc designation is used to label generations of offspring...
It's been years since I studied genetics, but I was also under the assumption that a f2 generation of a hybrid would be sterile. I hope I'm wrong as I've also been looking at these seeds.
I was under the impression that this is a deliberate cross created to make growing an extremely difficult...
Most people have eggshells on hand, hence using them as an easy calcium source. Around here, I can't get gypsum in a bag smaller than 30lbs, which is kinda a pain to store. I might have to check out maxi-bloom though, 8cents/gallon is hard to beat.
I just bought a bale of promix HP in the new package (white&orange, new logo)with the myco added, it seems weird they would take it out of the bx and not the HP.
Notice in your second pic how much nicer the new growth is compared to the old growth? I'm pretty sure you were over fertilizing. The burn leaf edges are a dead give-away. Peppers don't require a lot of fertilizer, especially when you are using a soil mix that has fertilizer in it already. keep...
Whats so wrong with them producing pods in the winter? I overwinter my plants indoors next to a window and get a few sparse pods throughout the winter. As long as they don't freeze the plants will want to keep cranking out pods. As an added bonus, pod production will slow your vegetative growth...
I easily got 300 pods growing the plant in a 3 gallon pot. I grew it 4 years ago and still have dried pods. Makes a good flake for sprinkling on pizza, pasta etc.
I had the same result after using the same mix (I used generic dish soap). I threw all my plants in the shower for 10minutes and the residue washed off. The plants were fine after, but now I use insecticidal soap cuz it's easier and doesn't leave the leaves looking all sickly.
