    Vegetative mutation

If it's as bad as you say the peppers will never have room to grow. If you've got more of the same plant I say kill it off. Awaiting picture before I commit myself to a vote. ;)

    Potawie's summer of 09 porn

Any ripe giant whites yet? Where are they on the habanero scale of heat and taste? Whenever I see them I think "It's not a TUMOR!"

    Noshow's Grow log "09"

So this paprika thing... I'm assuming you dry them and make paprika powder? Can you also eat them fresh or use them for something else?

Right now I'm thinking this is my last year

It needs to have no additives - get the original formula Dawn or Palmolive etc. All about soaps for plants

    Measuring Up

I have A/C but only when the generator is running. We had to get up at 2:30 AM the other day to start it up so we could get back to sleep. The fan alone could NOT make it feel comfortable with like 90% humidity we had going.

Brilliant! Love the $0 projects. Maybe keep the light out of the resevoir - worried about algae?? Disclaimer: I know nothing about hydro stuff.

    Measuring Up

The unripe ones are wrapped in paper towels with a ripe pepper or two. I brought them with me 'cause I'll have access to a real kitchen for a week. One with an oven and air conditioning and a toaster oven and air conditioning and a gas grill and air conditioning.

    pics FiveStar's Plants w/pics

Awesome plants! You have hit upon the right combination of nutrients, water and sun. And soil. Write it all down so I can do the same next year - I'm liking the potted specimens the most at this point. Time will tell what gets the best long-term results.

I went further south, near Melbourne, and it is cooler since it's on the coast. The forecast today is for 96 and the one for back home is 102! Might get back down around 90 here in a few days. I'm enjoying the plentiful free A/C. Here's a pic of the peppers I brought with me. Some had been in...

seeds How to tell dud seeds?

I did a float test on some of my problem seeds this year. Turned out exactly the opposite of what I thought - the floaters germinated better. Go figure. I get all kinds of strange results. I'm not overly accurate with my soil and temps and sometimes I get 6/6 withiin 24 hours of each other. And...

    Almost embarassed to ask...

I like using a paper-hole punch, the single type. Remove the thin strip of metal that guides the paper and you can get it on the bottom corner edge of the cup - don't use real sturdy cups - and zap! 4 drain holes in no time.

    Measuring Up

Thanks everyone! They're growing bigger than I thought they would. I might put them on pedestals (stumps) and let them hang down. Still young and just budding so no comment on the heat of the peppers. As far as it liking the hot weather - it's one of my wiltier plants. I might give it some...

    Measuring Up

The widest is still the large lemon drop. I'm picking 3 or 4 ripe ones a day from this plant alone... and it's packed with smaller pods and buds. That's it. I'm dripping with sweat and in need of some A/C and refreshment now. Gonna be a heat index of 110F* again today and it ain't a dry heat...

    Measuring Up

I'm going out of town for a week to 10 days so here's an update on how the plants are doing before I go. The tallest plant (except for an immature aji amarillo) is the long choc hab (Feb 14): (The blue ruler is 18") And her seed sacs: The plant with the heaviest pods is the larger of 2 red...
