I take them off of my 'regular' peppers since they hold moisture and I don't want fungus and stuff growing on the pods.
Interesting about them helping tails form... didn't know that, but then I have no scorpions. Yet. ;) Will it do the same on habs? Some of my pods have small tails.
Yeah, that's a strange one. Only thing I can think of is that's it's developed the ability to produce "sunscreen" for itself.
Is it the ripe or unripe stage that's black? And are they black all over, or more in places exposed to direct sun?
I'd vote for the Bloody Jerk right now but that wouldn't be fair to the rest of the competition. You've raised the bar, now let's see if anyone else can jump that high!
Love the chutney too. I'm going to play with some this year, I promise.
Since they can vary from plant to plant and even pepper to pepper on the same plant, I find it more unusual that you would get consistant results in the first place. Unless of course they were really, really lame - which should be pretty easy to do. If I get mine from Wal*Mart thye're almost...
The lemon drops (bac) kind of remind me of Celestial Seasonings chamomile tea for some reason when you smell them. The citrus is definitely a bitter lemon and I don't like mixing them with vinegar. Any recipe I try will use lemon juice and sugar - lots of sugar - or honey is good.
OK, wtf is a "Texas Busch"? Brewed in TX or something? Florida Busch I'm reeeal familiar with. $8.98 / 18-pack more often than not. I'm on the light version right now.
Haven't tried a ripe one yet - the purple ones taste... purple. It's getting darker by the day and should be red soon. Scoville's way ahead of me on that.
I tried the water and hormone in a jar routine and it seemed not to do anything. Maybe being able to see how slow it happens is a bad thing for me. I've stuck a broken branch in dirt before and it stayed alive as long as I kept it watered ... but I grew tired of the thing after a while...
I used a stronger solution and then rinsed afterwards - I didn't measure anything, just made me some soapy water. Only time I had problems was when I didn't rinse and they got direct sun - burnt a few leaves.
Yeah, I'm still n00b enough that I don't mind the new and unexpected. BUT I'd like to be able to have some seeds of 'value' to put in this year's package and not have to wonder about their dubious lineage.
Last year wasn't bad - I only did the isolation routine for the 2 plants I really wanted...
Yes I am a girl lizard. I realize the lack of external genitalia makes it difficult to tell.
.
Perhaps I should get my nails done before I take closeups next time?
I'm trying to remember if it broke when we moved out or back in. I'll have to look that up. It's going to be either 4/5 or 5/5. I noticed rooting (by up-ending the cup) about 3 weeks ago and it didn't take long after that to start growing out the bottom. Let's call it about 2 months growth in...
I wasn't in on the package this year but some of my trades turned out not to be what they were labeled. If I was really looking for pure varieties, I'd probably buy a few seeds. Not complaining either... at this point I'm wondering what I have that is 'pure enough' to trade next season. Probably...
