This plant wasn't producing pods, had low hopes, all of a sudden it took off! I also thought the flavor would be more intense. Still, it was good.

    food Mmmmmm...poppers!

I had an idea for a kind of popper the other day so I picked up some ingredients: ripe fresno peppers, chorizo, montarey jack cheese, and some greek pitas (they are thicker and softer then lebanese pita). I cut up the pita to be a bit larger then the halved peppers, put a nice chunk of chorizo...

    Shawarmas, donairs, and gyros

I found this post while searching for something else, but... The donair was invented in Halifax by a Greek man. This guy was (he has past away) a friend of my wife's stepfather who is also from Greece. Donairs are awesome, period. :)

    fermenting Second mash kicking off

Yes, you can use the sour dough hooch as a starter. The hooch is the liquid that collects at the top, it has a good amount of lactobacillus in it (the bacteria we want for this fermentation). I would be careful with the amount of garlic you add... as far as I know garlic is an antibiotic and...

    Soaker hose with pots

Ooh, good point. I don't want the hose to flip or unwind, decapitating my plants. I have some plastic zip ties I'll use to secure the hose to itself in the loop.

    Soaker hose with pots

Good point about the flexibility - that's something I'll watch out for when I pick out the hose. I'm going to try to find something decent instead of picking the cheapest one I can find. Will post pics for sure.

    Soaker hose with pots

I had thought about using irrigation tubing but this is only a temporary home for the plants while I'm away. I figure I have a better chance to reuse the soaker hose than the tubing around the yard.

    Soaker hose with pots

Hi everyone, I have roughly 80 pepper plants that I will be starting to pot up to 2800 size pots (real 4.6 gallons) this week. However in 2 weeks I will be taking a 3 week vacation so I need to rig up an irrigation system for my absence. My plants will be grouped together in a rectangle on my...

    5 gallon bucket question....

This is what I'm using, a "2800" nursery pot, which is about 4.6 gallons. I am getting two sleaves of them (35 containers per) for about $43 each, so at just over a buck a piece. http://www.itml.com/prodDetail.php?pd=1668

spirits Infusing Vodka with Hot Pepper Juice

I jammed a whole bunch of green thai peppers into two 5 oz woozies, topped one up with vodka, the other with tequilla. I let them sit for quite a while (ok so it's been like 6-9 months now at least) and all I can say is WOW... freakin hot. :) Sometimes I add some to a ceasar.

I have some leeks in the fridge and some meat to marinade some jerky meat today. Can you give some more info on using leeks with jerky or sausage?

    greenhouse My new "greenhouse"

Thanks for the info, Potawie. I'll be watching the temperature closely that's for sure. It might be worth cutting a few vents in the plastic too. WGB, the zipper is in the front of mine. This cost me $30 and I don't expect a whole lot from it; it will help me along though.
