This past winter we had about 3 total days when the night temps got into the upper 40s. The wind chill was worse. I can pretty much grow all year round but I need to start using a shade cloth for the summer months. I get alot of blossom drop from the high humidity and direct sunlight here. I...
I have the baskets they sold a while ago and stopped making that were made to separate in halves. Guess they started loosing money with those, haven't seen them selling them in a long time. As soon as I can get some to grow again in my aerogarden (or anything else) I'll have to try a larger...
Roots are a bi*** to get separated when you let them go to big with so many plants ... they all start growing together and you could cause damage trying to separate them for replanting. Even having the baskets that separate into two halves didn't help except for getting the main stalk out of it...
Definitely need to be re-potted. Needs more soil, looks like there is an inch to 2 inches between soil line and the top of the pot. Also using terracotta pots will wick water alot faster from soil in our hot and windy climate at times. Good luck :)
I soak the pots till they are massively wet. Then carefuly remove the bottoms (and tops that are not at soil line) plant below the top of the peat pot to prevent wicking.
I think geeme is saying that since you are taking your babies out of the pellet their new roots will be exposed to anything so better to put into starter mix to protect the youngins. If you were keeping in the pellets then the roots are still protected from burn till acclimated to new soil. I...
I had it all last year. If you search you would prob find my post. I would just wind up washing the leaves once a week with a pump pressure sprayer and that was a major pain. Finally they just stopped but now I'm starting to see them again with what little crop I have left.
Sounds like your on a good path, keep it up. Not sure if you would need other amendments once you go to use it since you said you have earthworms and such in the pile. Might want to have it checked 3-6 months before use by University just to make sure your in balance and give enough time to add...
My nearest University is Miami where my extension office would send it to, but I do have a state college nearby and will have to check with them if they do. Thanks LawrenceJ2007
I have lots of problems with my plants at times but I think it's from lack of soil testing. I have diff...
I reuse my soil from year to year amending it with compost bought from Lowe's/HD (not black kow) but is a 0.5-0.5-0.5, adding peat moss and pearlite as needed. My question is, I only make up my soil 1 wheel barrow at a time as needed so would be to expensive to keep sending samples to my local...
I know this is prob to late but if you had plastic/tarp to wrap around them, place non LED Christmas lights inside if you have them and that might keep them warm enough to last thru ripening. If you water enough and it's warm enough during the day you shouldn't have to open and close it daily...
