nutrients How do you mix/apply your liquid nutes?

I use a 5 gal bucket to mix mine in but I only have about 8 peppers. I also have onions, tomatoes, yellow squash, strawberries and green beans. 5 gal for my tomatoe ferts and half the bucket for the all purpose ferts for the rest.    Angie

container Do containers have to be elevated off the ground?

I keep mine elevated because down here in S FL it gets very hot and the concrete/pool decking gets unbearable with bare feet. It was cooking my plants from the bottom up. If I were to put them on the ground I would agree with OKGrowin with placing them on a weed barrier fabric to keep the bugs...

    growing blueberries

Thanks Solid and Jojo. My water meter is reading very wet so not sure how much more water they need, I've been watering pretty much everyday. My husband thinks that we didn't harden them off well enough. I didn't even think about it. I've had them on the porch since I potted them so that might...

    Any green beaners out there?

Thanks for the input guys, here are some pictures from 7 days before those previously posted. This picture kinda shows some black spots on the leaf. At closer look and sticking a finger on them they tended to jump leaving me to believe they were bugs of some sort. They are to small for me to see...

    Any green beaners out there?

Hey guys, I have some sickly green beans and it seems to  happen everytime I try to grow them either from seed or starters, they end up the same way. Can anyone tell me what is going wrong? They are in a mix of potting soil and cow manure compost and pearlite.   These pictures were taken on 5-9...

    growing blueberries

Hey guys, anyone know whats up with my blueberries. I have them in 50% peat moss, 25% compost, 25% soil with pearlite for aeration. The HD bought PH meter is reading around 6 which I know is high for it. I read somewhere that I can add vinegar to water to bring the PH down. I would like to hear...

    growing blueberries

Neither HD, Lowes, or a local nursery had it. They had the Azalea food but not the potting mix. Guess I'm just gonna do 50% peat moss, 25% soil, and 25% compost formula that I found on the net and see if that works. I bought the Azalea food so I can hopefully keep the PH down that way. Yes it...

    growing blueberries

Hey guys, I just got in the Gurneys Premium Blueberry plants from their special free w/shipping cost. I live in SE Florida. The growing guide is just basic info and not specific to my area. I was wondering if anyone else here has tried growing blueberries in SEFL and if so how did they do. Also...

    Rockwool starting and growing

I used rockwool in my aerogarden to start seedlings. Set it for the usual pepper setting and they grew really well. I left them in way to long and was a PITA to get them thru the little holes to transplant them into my soil pots. They are doing fine after the transplant. Had no issues with...

    Transplanting in Florida heat.

I'm from WPB and my peppers deal with alot of wind from the direction that my house faces and being so close to waterways and ocean. They take a real beating. I have bhuts and a couple of unknown ones because they lost their tags. I grow in 6gal plastic containers and reuse my soil every season...

Who ate the top of my plants?

Could be armyworms also. They are mainly black and can hide on top of your soil. I've come across them by accident since they can look like the twigs in your soil mixture.

    Whats happening to my peppers

geeme, would I flush the whole gallon per pot? I have about 6 plants in 5-gal pots. Also you said several waterings, how many would you suggest. I don't want to over do it with the peroxide. Should I try feeding them during or after the treatment with a high Nitrogen food to try to get them to...

    Whats happening to my peppers

Lowest temps so far have been 71 F we are just starting to "cool" down... Highs are still in the mid 80s. Down here there is no real dormant cycle, they are outside and if it does get cold I bring them into the porch and cover with sheets. Cold spells only last a couple of days down here.
