Is this going to be a problem?

It looks as though you had a seedling survive "damping off." If it made it this far it should survive, but the stem could be weak at that point, and you may have to stake or cage it. I've been lucky so far and have never had any damping off issues. Hopefully somebody that has experienced it...

soil soil runnoff ph too low?

After doing some further research, I found some information on peat based soiless mixes. The peat is quite acidic, so they add pH high slow release granular fertilizers to counter it. When you test the runoff, it tends to be quite low since the peat affects the water pH much faster than the...

soil soil runnoff ph too low?

I took a sample from the top inch of soil and mixed with equal amounts of distilled water. PH came out at 7.9. That may not be the most representative coming from the surface rather than closer to the root zone, but kind of afraid to disturb the roots. I even double checked calibration, meter...

    Dobondo's 100% LED indoor glog

Looking really good, I hope my indoor led grow turns out that well. I would've suggested a white reflective curtain opposite the walls for more reflection back to the plants, but it looks like the plants are doing good the way they are.

soil soil runnoff ph too low?

I watered until I got about a half inch of run off in the drip trays to make sure they got a good soak again. I normally only water 2-4 cups of water every 3-4 days, now that the plants are getting bigger I figured its time to water deeper, especially since the Thais are showing some curling on...

    Easy Teaspoon Sauce

Found a simple recipe for hot sauce with dried pepper powders, that I plan to try pretty soon. Sort of classic Louisiana hot sauce. 10 tsp water 10 tsp white vinegar 3-5 tsp pepper powder 1 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp salt Would this have to be boiled thoroughly to pasteurize or just simmered to...

Hydro Grow.... never any fruit. Need advise

Get a hold of an infrared thermometer, and check your leaf surface temps, and the temps at the flower buds. Temps of the leaves should ideally be 1.5-4 degrees lower than the ambient temp, and flower buds should stay below 87f to set fruit. The cmh may be heating up the plants more than...

lighting leaves drooping before lights out

Some people seem to think it can't be too much light when "it's only a 36 true watt led" according to opinions from some "professional growers" that I had consulted. I now have the humidity stabilized between 50-55%. The light does have 255 0.2 watt LED's that are WAY more efficient than even...

    indoor How To: Indoor Set-Up

The link doesn't seem to work for me. Looks like it move have been truncated, and parts of the address got left out. Anyway, the PDF download fails. Guess I'll have to try searching for it.

    Time to start over

Would you say 3 inches of growth in 6 days is pretty good? Added a fan above the ceramic heat emitter a couple days ago, to distribute the heat better. Yesterday I added the new humidifier and humidity controller. Much more stable environment now, and more time between humidifier fills...

Adapting an LED grow light to the Aerogarden Sprout

I've seen a lot of diy reflectors made out of cheap aluminum pie plates and roasting pans. Just have to visit the dollar store, lol.

    leaf surface temp tests

Most recent measurements have the thai's at -1.2 on average, and then leaves that are drooping are actually cooler by half a degree. Possibly because they aren't getting direct light. Anybody else have an it thermometer to test temps with? It'd be interesting to get some data at other...

    leaf surface temp tests

I decided to keep the humidity at the average 52% range. The habs are staying around -4 compared to the Thai's have increased a bit, about the time their leaves started drooping they went up to about -1.8f. Apparently they gradually get light stressed after 12 hours of light.

    leaf surface temp tests

Got my new ir thermometer today, and started my testing of leaf surface temperatures at differing humidity and temp levels. Its hard to test at a range of temperatures right now, when I can't seem to get my temps consistently above 75f, so I'm testing at 73f at the plant till I get a bigger...

    Moldy pods

I always half and deseed pods no matter what. Its not just my surname meaning to cut in half. I don't like bitter seeds, and I want to see the quality before doing anything. Meanwhile I currently only sell whole pods, but not before I've cut a few open and taste tested a few to make sure they...

    indoor How To: Indoor Set-Up

Do you have any links to research as to the temps and humidity for veg/bloom data? I spent months researching and only concluded about the same ranges, just interpretations based on growing other plants 25 years ago. I plan to do some not so scietiific studies on leaf surface temps and...

LED - Someone hold my hand

I was actually told by local law enforcement to cover my basement windows or come up wth better light control so they didn't have to deal with any more calls about my grow light. At least when they came to investigate, I found a home for a couple extra seedlings.

Adapting an LED grow light to the Aerogarden Sprout

Looks like a good replacement. Have you considered adding some reflective material to the light hood?
