No, It had maybe 5% tequila at most. I have a bottle of Patron leftover from my wedding last year. Not much of a tequila drinker so I thought it would be good as a flavor enhancer. The alcohol really intensifies the burn. :fireball:

Patrick - sorry, should have read it more carefully before replying. Silicon dioxide should be inert, the other stuff common in foods. I would not think it would impart any weirdness.

Flavor enhancer = tequila. Thought I'd make a lime/tequila hot sauce. I surmise the alcohol in the tequila has distilled the capsaicin from the mash and made it more "mobile". Hits you like an extract, tastes like a hot sauce.

Well, my taste buds have recovered. The hot sauce tastes friggin awesome. The extreme heat I experienced was due to an experiment with one jar of leftover mash. I think I used a flavor enhancer that caused the capsaicin to become more readily absorbed.
