    I wouldn't use the stuff. Way to much possibility for disease (both you and the plants) herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, and other nasty stuff. You never know what people will wput in to the clippings that the city will compost.

    Leaf question?

    This happens to me too, mainly on my C. Chineses. They usually grow out of it and the leafs get darker in time. It has never caused me to lose any plants.

    I use a heat for germination but have never used jiffy peat pelets, although the mix I start my seeds in is about %70 peat.

    Soil suggestions for first transplant

    I use a mix of seed starting mix mushroom compost and pine bark fines for potting transplants into 3 inch pots. I also add a little lime to the mix. Works well for me.

    Yes the orignal intent was a large hot pepper. Don't care which one just as long it can cross with a naga or other hot c. chienese for the heat.

    good idea I use 10 percent bleach solution for this it will kill the bacteria if there are any. sorry to hear for your loss omri I have lost many plants too and know how your feel.
