Need to harden off with full spectrum LED?

Currently have some plants under 1000W LED that has a spectrum of 380nm to 780nm. Is that little bit of UV 380-400nm enough to not need to harden off the plants when moving outside?

    seeds Transplanting Seedlings

I've also found that they grow faster when transplanting to larger pots in steps rather than going straight to their final size, 5 gal buckets for me. They end up the same size in the end but going straight to the biggest pot takes longer. I'm assuming they are focused one growing roots for...

video Sauce from dehydrated peppers and dry ingredients only

Ha! Yeah! Thanks for sharing.   Surprised more people don't use dried peppers more for making sauce. I can dehydrate and grind my surplus pepper harvest and just make smaller batches as needed. Stores better and takes up less room.

video Sauce from dehydrated peppers and dry ingredients only

This ends up being around 4 oz. Easily scaled up, when I make this recipe now I usually quadruple everything and it perfectly fills 3x 5oz woozy bottles.    The recipe is a really small batch because I was testing flavor profile and heat level. I'd recommend you start with a small batch like...

video Sauce from dehydrated peppers and dry ingredients only

My new favorite recipe and method to make hot sauce. Super easy, shelf stable, easy to make small batches and fine tune adjustments to heat level and flavor profile. 1.5 oz water (thickened with xanthan gum, 1/4 tsp to 8oz water) 1 oz white vinegar .5 oz apple cider vinegar 1 tsp onion powder 1...

    issue Is this edema?

Thanks fellas! Makes sense, less leaves to transpire water, existing leaves symptoms worsen.

    issue Is this edema?

Thanks!   Assuming I start getting normal growth once I reduce watering frequency, should I be pruning off the afflicted leaves?

    issue Is this edema?

The leaves on my peach Bhut seemed to be growing slowly and with an odd shape. Took a look at the underside of the leaves and this is what I found. Initial reaction was aphids! But thankfully that wasn't it. They are not alive and does not wipe off. The little white bumps are part of the leaves...

    Waking up a "frozen" transplant?

I see this a lot when I transplant to a much larger container or into the ground. Likely what DontPanic mentioned with root growth. Could be a good idea to pinch off the peppers and buds already on the plant so it can focus its energy on vegetative growth.    Whenever I transplant from small...

consistency Question regarding Sauce v Salsa and dilution.

You can ferment it all together. May be easier if you don't completely liquefy all your ingredients first. Just rough chop it all and use weights or a ziplock filled with water to keep your ingredients below the surface of the water.    As mentioned by beerbreath81, don't cook your mash first...

    Powders

I've switched to almost exclusively going the powder route for any peppers I can't use fresh. They definitely store better long term than a mash.   You can also make great hot sauce with the powder. Whip as much or as little as you like at a time - don't need to commit to a large batch and super...

    Finally made it back!

First joined back in 2008, learned a lot and shared what I could. With a new kid, work, moving etc it's been years since I've been here.   Hoping to find enough time to stick around permanently this time!

sending out seeds in sub zero temps

Yeah. As long as they are completely dried, no wiorries. The fear of freezing is from the expanding water rupturing cell walls.

    Improvised blow off

Thanks for the advice and ideas. It's slowed down enough that i put the airlock back in and its fine now. I only left it like that over night. The positive pressure from the CO2 was keeping the liquid from creeping in. And i don't believe a little star san would have any negative affects. It...

    Improvised blow off

Any reason why this would be ineffective? I had an airlock on it but the lid starting doming up and it looked like it was a bout to blow. so i pulled the airlock out and put a sanitized bowl over the hole. Once crap stopped foaming out i wiped down the lid with star san, put the little plastic...

    Weirdest thing happened

I had a problem with rats going through the garbage in my front yard. So i folded a nice dose of 7pot powder into some ham. The next morning the ham was gone and there was a dead rat lying there. Coulda been a coincidence but i definitely think the 7pot had something to do with it's demise.
