    Pash Gets Serious

Good day today, only 23 of 72 have not sprouted. If I can get just one of the Blondies to sprout, I can rest easy, and count the sprouting part of this project a success. Guess who woke from his slumber? My one Monster Infinity! Thanks Shane for the seed; he's ALIVE!!! Also, big...

    A look at Root Pouches

I have a root pouch related question. I've been thinking of using root pouches to overwinter my plants at the end of the year. I will overwinter as many as 20 plants, and my space is very limited. What does everyone think of cutting back the root ball of 10 month old plants (some grown in the...

STC3248, Just Another Grow Log! Holiday Harvest!

That's interesting about the peat. I'm going with the Kellogg's based on price (I'm on a tight budget) and the nifty organics in it. I've yet to put my hands in a bag. I have some homemade finished compost I may throw in the mix for structure. I'll definitely keep you posted.

STC3248, Just Another Grow Log! Holiday Harvest!

Thanks for all the info on your soil experiences. I'm planning on getting Kellogg's Patio Plus, and I think I will heed your advice; sifting the wood chips and adding pearlite.

    seeds Jiffy discs.... and germination

If you can afford $15 and live near a Kohl's, I love this thermometer. What I had to do is put cardboard between my mat and my tray to get the temps out of the 90 degree range. In my case I take the lid off during the day, because window light can overheat the tray. I've also put the lid on...

    seeds Seed Tray Too Humid?

I would be totally lost without my thermometer. I got this one for $15 at Kohl's and it has become my best friend. I am operating without a thermostat and had to put cardboard between my mat and the seed tray because my tray got too hot. Also, there are different climate zones within my tray...

    seeds Jiffy discs.... and germination

I'm also new at starting peppers from seed, and am using small Jiffy pellets. I'm transplanting fairly early because my pellets tend to dry out and there will be weekends when I will have to leave them unattended. I'm taking the 'wrappers' off before I transplant as well. I think you can keep...

    Using Coffee Grounds?

I have thown 100s of pounds of grounds collected from my local Starbucks into my compost pile and directly into my soil. Mixed with shredded newspaper, it can really get a compost pile cooking. Once I found out used grounds are generally ph neutral, I just started going nuts with the stuff...
