Your best bet would be to buy plants instead of seeds. Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot still have pepper plants, but they will probably be limited. You can also order from http://www.chileplants.com/. Most hot peppers take 90+ days to produce fruit, so I think doing seeds would put you at the end of...

FYI. still not sure what's the best method to re-pot. One person does it one way and someone discounts that method. Guess I will take the plant out of it's current home and try not to disturb the roots and re-pot. Hopefully that works.

I almost ordered some of their plants when the sale first started but I really didn't want 12 plants. I just checked their site and there isn't much left. Maybe I'll try a few of their plants next year.

How big are your plants? I'm new at growing peppers, so my knowledge is limited. But if they are really young, I would not fertilize with 24-8-16. Maybe try fish/seaweed fertilizer mixed at 1/4 strength, but then again it all depends on how big your plants are.

When I re-potted, I gave the soil a good soaking. It does appear to drain well. I guess my concern was below the surface thinking the root system would be affected since the soil was stiff. I also never tested the soil ph. I'll see if lowes has anything such as a test kit. I'm hoping the ph is...

I guess I should add more topsoil. On a side note, I found some ProMix BX that is about an hour drive. It's at a farm supply store yet they would not sell me one bag. Pretty crappy if you ask me.

I have some bone meal too. I'm going to let them go for now as I plan on re-planting on the weekend. I have a different soil that I put together from the post on this site. So I'll try that and see how it comes out.

I watered them before I took that pictures, thats the reason why it looks moist. If i took a picture today, the top of the soil would be dry. yes, i have approx 5 drainage holes in the bottom of each cup. I'll be re-potting this weekend maybe sooner depending on how they do between now and then.
