    Habanero, tabasco & jalapeno flowering

This is a newbie question. I have three plants that were bought around April 25th. All are not very tall and are beginning to produce flowers, which I have pinched off. At what point do you let the flowers develop? These plants are only about 8-9" tall. It seems like they are only growing at a...

    Leaves turning yellow

Thanks Hawaii Al. I added blood meal today, so I am hoping that solves the problem.

Newbie here saying hello and with a question....

Your best bet would be to buy plants instead of seeds. Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot still have pepper plants, but they will probably be limited. You can also order from http://www.chileplants.com/. Most hot peppers take 90+ days to produce fruit, so I think doing seeds would put you at the end of...

seeds 7 Pot Brain Strain Seeds?

BTW, I have one of these friends who says he can eat any pepper out there. I am currently trying to grow some Bhuts so I can put him to the test.

    I can't stop!

I'm kinda the same way. I have 1 habanero, 1 tabasco, 1 jalapeno and these are about a foot or so tall. These were bought as plants from Lowes. Now I have several seedlings, 2 fatalli (has not sprouted yet), 2 bhuts, 1 naga , 1 choc hab (has not sprouted yet), 3 long red slims, almapaprika (has...

    potting up

FYI. still not sure what's the best method to re-pot. One person does it one way and someone discounts that method. Guess I will take the plant out of it's current home and try not to disturb the roots and re-pot. Hopefully that works.

breeding Cross Country Nurseries Superhot Smackdown

I don't know of any. Maybe someone else does. It's hard for me to keep up with the plants I have now. if I ordered 12 plants, i would be overwhelmed. I think next year I will plant seeds early and order from Cross Country around this time nxt year so that I have plants at different stages. I...

breeding Cross Country Nurseries Superhot Smackdown

I almost ordered some of their plants when the sale first started but I really didn't want 12 plants. I just checked their site and there isn't much left. Maybe I'll try a few of their plants next year.

    fertilizer Avoiding Fertilizer Burn

How big are your plants? I'm new at growing peppers, so my knowledge is limited. But if they are really young, I would not fertilize with 24-8-16. Maybe try fish/seaweed fertilizer mixed at 1/4 strength, but then again it all depends on how big your plants are.

    Leaves turning yellow

The weather here has been in the mid 90's during the day and mid 70's at night. The wind has been gusting at times, however the last 4 days the wind has been non-existent. I have a long red slim that is getting tall so I will start putting that one outside to get some real light. the others are...

    Leaves turning yellow

I think i will try the blood meal. I have to stop at Lowes on my way home from work and will pick up a bag. This hobby is getting a little expensive. I guess I will have to cut back on my alcohol consumption. NOT!

    soil Rookie soil question

When I re-potted, I gave the soil a good soaking. It does appear to drain well. I guess my concern was below the surface thinking the root system would be affected since the soil was stiff. I also never tested the soil ph. I'll see if lowes has anything such as a test kit. I'm hoping the ph is...

    soil Rookie soil question

I guess I should add more topsoil. On a side note, I found some ProMix BX that is about an hour drive. It's at a farm supply store yet they would not sell me one bag. Pretty crappy if you ask me.

    soil Rookie soil question

Ok, so I made up some soil over the weekend. This is what I used. 2 parts vermiculite 2 parts perlite 3 parts topsoil 3 parts peat 2 parts cow manure 1/2 part bonemeal I used it in one pot that houses a long red slim. Here is a picture. My question is this. When looking at the...

They are sitting under flour 6500k lights 24/7. I guess it could be not enough light, but I'm not sure.

    Leaves turning yellow

I have some bone meal too. I'm going to let them go for now as I plan on re-planting on the weekend. I have a different soil that I put together from the post on this site. So I'll try that and see how it comes out.

    Leaves turning yellow

I watered them before I took that pictures, thats the reason why it looks moist. If i took a picture today, the top of the soil would be dry. yes, i have approx 5 drainage holes in the bottom of each cup. I'll be re-potting this weekend maybe sooner depending on how they do between now and then.
