I think I will stop off at lowes today and pick up what I need to make my own soil.

When I got home from work, I checked the soil and there they were. So I sprayed the soil with the insecticide soap I have and it looks like it took care of the problem. At least for the moment. I checked the leaves again and I see no signs of aphids. I am hoping they do not return tomorrow.

My long red slims are starting to yellow. Could it be an iron, manganese, molybdenum or some other deficiency? I've only watered with fish fert and plain water. I have also foliar fed with epsom salt. I know, the soil is horrible. It is miracle gro organic. Do I need to repot or leave until...

What is DE? I recall reading that someplace but can't remember the name. can you get that at Lowes or HD? or would I need to get that from a feed store?

I bought MG organic potting mix and it's no good. I try not to buy Scotts, if i can help it. I am limited as to what I can buy as Lowes and HD carry every type of MG product they make. That's why I think I will just make my own potting mix. It may not be the best but I'm sure it will be better...

I hate the stuff. It's like concrete once it is wet and then dried. it also has too many big chunks of crap. I will be making my own nxt week. i no longer buy anything that is made by MG. just my .02.

Never heard of metalosate products. Not sure if they sell that in the States. I checked out the web site and it all looks good. I'm sure there is a company in the US that sells similiar items.

I will discontinue the soap spray unless I start seeing aphids again. I have noticed some discoloration on my jalapeno plant, but I think it is a combination of past aphids and soap pool.

I 2nd that Duff.. I did the same thing, except I didn't have to dive into a dumpster LOL! Does not pay to buy them from Lowes or HD when you can get the for free and plus they are food grade buckets.

I use it only as a foliar spray. about once a week. I also use 15-30-15 at 1/4 stength as a foliar spray and it is alternated with the epsom foliar spray. Not sure if that's right or not, but so for it is working. At least my plants are not dying.

BTW, I may try to make up some home made soil if I can find the items needed. I know I can get peat, vermiculite, perlite and possibly manure. I could probably do mix 15 in the soil posting on this site, which I assume will be better than what is available.
