Some basics on how I hybridize without bees and a few F1 and F1BC1

For those that like clustering genetics. The Morangum really can't be beat. The bleeding calyx is a clear bonus when working with this particular pollen donor. I hope that this video can help some of you work out how to use this particular Capsicum chinense as a pollen donor as its short flower...

I do this with just a single hand on my phone and the other hand pollinating.  I hope this makes it easy for those of you to follow who might want to try your own hand at this. For the record, this is today's attempt at a cross I have made several times already so we don't need these seeds, but...

Scarlett's Chili x Poblano... both parents mature to red and as red is dominant we can't rule out other colors appearing, but I'd bet on red. With that being said, this is indeed one of my favorite crosses, but it has a lot of polygenic traits that will be hard earned to get back... but it can...

annuum Capsicum annuum 'Fish Pepper' x C. annuum 'Tennessee Cheese

I have a few Fish pepper crosses that I certainly would not mind sharing with others provided they were willing to share seed back with me in an ongoing collaboration.   You my friend are growing a few of my crosses already... we certainly could consider a few more.

annuum Capsicum annuum 'Fish Pepper' x C. annuum 'Tennessee Cheese

variation for foliar pigmentation may be achieved by introgression of genes described in Capsicum for green/white foliar variegation. When expressed in genetic backgrounds where foliar anthocyanin occurs, purple/green/white variegation occurs. Variegated mutants include four marbled (m-1 to m-4)...

annuum Capsicum annuum 'Fish Pepper' x C. annuum 'Tennessee Cheese

This cross is a double recessive!    We are seeing the birth of the f1 here! If all goes well, we should see 1 or 2 variegated leaves at most in this seedling with a full return of variegation in the f2 with some peppers being sweet and some being hot!

I can see the proof in your seedlings Tybo.    Scarlett's Chili being the mom lends a purple edge to the flower. The white in the center of your flower comes from Poblano. Expect the f2 to be variegated, but also expect that our work is not over. There are many traits that are polygenic and even...

    Best cluster varieties?

Pimenta Morangum is one of my favorites as well. Loads of clusters. Absolutely love that trait. My understanding is that clustering trait is a polygenic trait, so larger numbers are needed to see what is hidden.

    Roughrider?

Why ask Why someone uses a particular font? Some people are strange. Some fonts are strange.    Show me the pepper!  That is the only strange I'm interested in.

    breeding Best Large Jalapeno

I love the Biker Billy myself. So much so that I've got some Capsicum annuum 'Biker Billy' x C. annuum 'Fish Pepper' crosses to work the variegation into a larger Jalapeno phenotype. With that being said, I've also crossed C. annuum 'Biker Billy' x C. annuum 'Tiger Jalapeno' as well as the...

    Greetings from Cape Cod!

Welcome, I love the baccatum as well. Absolutely wonderful pepper. For another C. baccatum, try out a Wartryx... technically a baccatum interspecfic hybrid so the flower is a bit off, but interesting nonetheless.

    Hello

There is something magical about growing peppers, but once you get started pollinating them... that is where the true magic begins to unfold if you can get them to the f2 point.
