What's the best way to fert my plants?

I've used Miracle Grow when I need to perk them up.  It is a short term solution, but it will show you if the issue is lack of nutrients.

    2015 Pepper Hauls

My first year and lots learned!  I started off with weak, malnourished seedlings that didn't get enough light.  Then the plants struggled and continued to be malnourished.  One day I fed them and everything changed...BOOM!  They became happy and grew like crazy.  It caused a later season then...

chinense Ghost taking longer to Dehydrate ??

I don't know the cause, but I have had some that won't dry as quick as others too.  I've had brainstrains and others that took longer.  I found turning up the heat and eventually they will dry.  Maybe the amount of peppers or location in the dehydrator make a difference.  I dry at a hotter...

    6 pepper SHU's results

That's right AJ, consistancy is king!  That is what they care about most when you have an established brand.  I don't know if they have taste testers, but I bet they do, after the product is made.   What they use us for is the initial pepper mash blending calculations by SHU.   Here in Las...

    6 pepper SHU's results

It's true, I just don't see it happen much.  I'm only one testing lab of several in the country, but there are a few growers testing on a regular basis.   True, It doesn't add up for the normal small grower to spend $ on this.  Most of our customers are from the big sauce and spice powder...

    6 pepper SHU's results

Actually the hottest "stable" pepper we've tested here at Southwest Bio-labs is the Primo red at 1.5 million from another grower.  The hottest pepper ever, is a top secret brown F3 thing at 1.6 million.   It's actually my job to test peppers, so it didn't cost as much as a normal customer. ;)  ...

    6 pepper SHU's results

It's $50 per sample. Oh I dried about a dozen of each, dehydrated them, ground them up, and then tested them at Southwest Bio-Labs.  The growers did not know I was doing this so they were not selected for this purpose,   -Tom

    6 pepper SHU's results

Hi everyone.  I tested a batch of 6 different Super hot type peppers for SHU's.  I thought you might like to know the results as well.  The first 3 peppers are from ajdrew at PeppersByMail.  These were very good quality and beautiful phenotypes.  The last 3 are from a friend that doesn't want to...

How do you guys wait for ripe peppers!

How do you guys wait for ripe peppers!  I go out and talk to them and tell them winter is coming.  I am going crazy waiting for my first habaneros, bhuts, and morugas!  No joke these take a month more than other types.

Tips and Tricks for Pepper Pros

If your pepper plants don't look as good as you think they should (or as other peoples), they may need food!  I had skinny, small plants and I didn't know why they looked so pathetic.  So, I went to the garden store and bought a soil test kit and found I was very low on nitrogen and Potassium...

    Finally, my first ripe Morgua(?)

Good point!  At least it seems to be a superhot pepper of sometype that you should be proud to grow and will burn like hell!

    Finally, my first ripe Morgua(?)

I think it has the characteristics of a moruga.  It doesn't look like many, you're right, but if you start looking at more pictures here and on google you will see that the phenotypes vary a lot.  It could be a hybrid I guess, but these look good to me for the most part.     I got my morgua...
