chinense Ghost taking longer to Dehydrate ??

I had four types in the dehydrator and they all dried the same except the Ghost, gave them an extra day and their still leathery. Size are the same as some of my Scotch and Jamaicans so density should not be a issue, so are they more oily and keep their flexibility.
Thanks :)

Are they thicker walled ? Or did you not slice them up as small ? Never had oils  change drying timer for me .

Only thickness of pepper walls.

that was my first thought as they have much thicker flesh but were much heavier water wight wise weigh peppers of the same size and you'll be shocked by water weight

I've had some random pods take longer than expected. Had some dealers that took a good deal longer than the Morugas I had them in with.

I sliced them open so they would go quicker but the walls are the same, if anything the scotch bonnets had thicker walls. I have bagged them and their still soft.

I don't know the cause, but I have had some that won't dry as quick as others too.  I've had brainstrains and others that took longer.  I found turning up the heat and eventually they will dry.  Maybe the amount of peppers or location in the dehydrator make a difference.  I dry at a hotter temperature than I used to, 160 degrees F is as high as I think my dehydrator will go.  I learned from others that this isn't a problem, unless you are drying for seeds.  Good luck.

I am drying with seeds so am being careful. They are not crowded so lots of airflow ... checked the bag, still look good so no molding, so I'm still guessing its oil rich, hoping.

I always dry on 130, and have had no problem completely drying thicker walled and juicy peppers like aji amarillo in 2-3 days. I do cut my peppers in half before drying. Even Reapers, which are super oily, usually dry in 2-3 days max at 130. If you are dehydrating and intending on preserving seeds to grow you should probably dry at the lowest temp, like 90-95 degrees. Drying at that low temp would probably take 5-7 days I'm guessing.
