    DF 2019 Veg Glog

Your raspberries look a bit more filled out than mine DF but mine are in shade. For what they go through I ain't complaining. Looks like you have a great plant!

    Gardening with Zippy

Home base. Will post community garden photos soon.   Terrible year for carrots and peppers. Good year for potatoes and squash. First year trialing a sweet potato at 50 degrees latitude. Good year for grapes. Okay year for plums and sour cherries.    So umm, I'm using up the file buffer for...

StettoGro '19: In For a Dime

It took three weeks of rains to equal 3.25 inches over here. Is this one large rain for you? That is rough. The only option I can see is constructing some tents over your peppers. I am not sure if applying peat would would help you. Or you could start playing  Milli Vanilli until the rain god is...

    2019 Pod reviews

Most of my stuff tops out below a million scovilles just because of more challenging growing conditions. Still if my response qualifies as to why I grow hot at all than we can chalk it up to an ongoing medical problem.    Due to a health problem that is causing inflammation in the body affecting...

    Growing in the white stuff

Update. Peppers are growing nicely. They did however take a long time to overcome the yellowing which occurred when I acclimatized them under the tarp. I suspect a combination of nights over 10 degrees combined with extra fertilizing helped. Furthest ahead are the SRP. The plant put lots of...

Help me identify this nutrient deficiency

I hear you on the pathogen. I traded some extra healthy habs for a very sad looking aji. I wasn't sure what was attacking it and against my better judgement, I traded a healthy plant for an iffy one. This week it started to green up and it straightened out roughly an inch. It is pretty puny so I...

Help me identify this nutrient deficiency

I was wondering the same thing. Those Zapotecs could easily describe my white bhuts this year. Most of my the peppers I had this year suffered to one extent or another but the yellowed ones in the ground just grew out of it. I'm wondering if climatic conditions play a role in calcium uptake...

    2019 Pod reviews

I'll take your advice and move the pot of SRPs where there is a bit more shade. Out of all the peppers I've tried this year two varieties struggled a bit. The SRPs and the chocolate habs which was a surprise to me. The difference is the chocolate habs are sprouting new growth to compensate. The...

    2019 Pod reviews

I tasted my first SRP last week. It had heat but no sweetness whatsoever. I attributed it to a partial ripened state. I will wait a bit as I have several forming. I'm hoping the flavour improves. Then again the weather shifted from scorching heat to cold nights again and the baccatums are...

StettoGro '19: In For a Dime

Interesting germination. I had a tomato that did almost the same thing. Very political pepper. Did you have CNN on in the background? Way too left for my liking. Just kidding. Cool pic.

    Mugwort

Mugwort does not grow everywhere here. If you are searching for mugwort here you have to search for heavy congregations of geese. I can't comment on Iowa flora but here mugwort follows gaggles of geese because the geese strip the grasses down to nothing and the rhizomes eventually die. Without...

    PaulG 2019

Well Paul, you are not the only one with sunscald issues. We had a late spring. The temps never rose above 6 until last week and yesterday we had a 35c. Almost everything was hit. And yellowed. That is why I planted in threes. Hopefully one of each variety makes it to maturity for seeds. I hope...

I'm not a kohlrabi guy but you sure grew some decent heads! I might have to pay attention because I have family who are more into kohlrabi than I am.

I'm surprised how wet it has been in the hat. I think it has rained twice for a total of a quarter inch here. Much drier. I like looking at your garden much better DF.

StettoGro '19: In For a Dime

Sorry to hear about your father Stettoman. It isn't an easy process but I will say that the faster the process concludes, the easier it is on everyone. If it lasts 2.5 years you get really exhausted. Now you can get back to living and most importantly having a routine.    Rellenos look very good!.

Mattys first ever Glog "Into the fire" 2019 season

Yeah I am going to have to do the roof here as well. The shingles did not hold up at all so you are not alone Matt.    Well I am sort of hardening off the plants. Lots of in and out. I want the nights to warm up so I can just leave the plants out and vent when needed. All 62 of the little...
