    First pepper garden

100 degree temps, full-sun, without shade cloth? Yeah, man. Possibly twice a day. What size is the container?

Sliced super hots for nachos? Any Ideas?

You're a league above me in heat tolerance if you're slicing superhots for nachos lol. Personally I would be slicing up CGN21500s mmmm

    Hot weather capsicum pubescens?

So far my two varieties have been quite resilient. Although fruiting is problematic, their vegetation has been good in heat and in winter. My peppers struggle with hornworms and aphids, but they have not touched my pubes *knocks on wood*.    All my attempts at germination have been difficult...

    Hot weather capsicum pubescens?

Here is my experience so far and it includes Giant Mexican Rocoto from PL and Turbo Pube from Semillias.de. Here in Sacramento it's really hot and rather dry. Summers are 90-115 degrees...   I grew the Giant Mexican Rocoto under 40% aluminet shadecloth in a raised bed in full sun location. I got...

    baccatum Different baccatum

I received free seeds for Pink Tiger X Mutant and am currently growing it. Had no idea what to expect... I must say it's really ornamental. The foliage at least. similar to black pearl I suppose, but i'm positive it will taste much better.   The only baccatum with ornamental value that comes...

    My first super hot

Expect quadruple the heat ^_^    I imagine you're going to turn it into powder? Unless you put a bunch on, it may seem tamer than eating a whole fresh hab?

    powder-flake Best peppers for powder???

I have not done much in terms of powders considering how many years I have been growing them. I was happy with my only two attempts though! I smoked (think it was apple wood) some Jamaican Hot Chocolate then made powder from it. My brother especially loved it. I also made powder from Brainstrain...

4 new trees in 20 gal containers

Are your avocados still doing well and filling out those 30 gallon pots? I've been wanting to grow avocado but my family is very skeptical they will grow well here. If you can grow them there, I should be able to in Sac Town! Are they grafted to hardier rootstock?   I was going to suggest you...

    Pluot, Aprium, Pluerry, oh my.

Anyone growing these fancy stonefruit crosses?? I'm looking to pot up a bunch of semi-dwarfs within a years time. Pluots, apriums, and pluerrys all require pollinators from what I understand. So i'm curious if any of you have favorite varieties for these?   I'm also quite interested in those...

    Cacti Thread

lol. Yeah, that would be my contribution as well. I mostly have a ton of older San Pedros. I got some babies of Peruvian Torch and Achuma going as well... and a couple that were crossed (Peruvianus X Bridgesii) i'm stoked for.    It's tricky to snap a photo of their blooms. I'm always really...

To salt or not to salt?

If you don't care much for aesthetics you could try wrapping those sun shades for car windshields around the pots (prolly cut them in half). Might even find them at the dollar stores. Although I find the idea of double potting or using straw bales more appealing.    Is there a reason you filled...

    Weird

Have you found one to be more effective for ladybugs? Are there flowers/plants to encourage Green Lacewings to stick around?

    When to allow pods?

Check out 247garden dot com. I ordered a ton of fabric pots from them this year. Super cheap with good construction. They have 'Tall' versions. One of the tall ones might have a diameter that will fit on that window sill but offer a higher gallon capacity.

    Different pod genetics

So if you were trying to stabilize say a specific pod shape, would you grow out your F1s in say 10 plants, and then just choice the plant that had more pods in the pod shape you wanted for the F2 grow?

    Aji Amarillo

I would approach Pubescens and Aji Amarillo the same way. Go in with the mentality that you're growing for 2nd year plants. My 'Turbo Pupe' didn't produce any ripe pods for my the 1st year, despite starting them from seed in December indoors. Now in its second year the plant is fairly large...

    When to allow pods?

Your UK weather might not call for shadecloth... my summers are hellish. 85 degrees you mentioned shouldn't be an issue.   What size containers are your chilis in though? Larger more established plants will handle heat stress better. **edit: I see this was addressed. I can't get away with...

vendor Most Trusted Online Seed Sources

The vast majority of my sourced seeds (I grow all my plants from seed) come from semillas.de and White Hot Peppers. WHP has Reaper seeds, so that's my vote.

    Blossom drop.

Its bloody hot here in Sac Town, and we recently had our temps jump from spring to summer-like weather. You need to do what you can to help the plant deal with our heat. I used to grow in 5-6 gallon buckets. I used to manually water. Never had much success. Now for pots I do a minimum of 7...

    Odd Looking New Growth

I'm in Sacramento as well and nearly all my peppers outside the shade-clothed area (30+ plants) have foliage that look like this.    I'm pretty darn sure it's a result of the heat blast we got hit with recently.

    Molasses

It's my dream to move to the Big Island. Largely for the growing conditions! I'm a bit more keen on the Hilo/Puna side of the island, but Kona has some fantastic beaches. Waimea would be an awesome place to live a farmers life. I bet Pubescens would thrive in Waimea. I have been very curious...
