    HeatMiser's 2021 Glog

The site is back! It's been a while, I'm glad things are working again. I kept coming back and the update was still in progress. I also got really busy the past few weeks. So now it's time for an update. My outdoor plants are definitely doing better than I expected at the start of the season...

That's awesome Paul, my all-white plant did not produce a single flower. It looked great though, but then perished during the heat wave. If I get the opportunity to grow another white plant, I'll play around with grafting it to another Jalapeno plant.

Looking good Unc!   Have you tried the Zapotecs? They seem to like the HLG100 over here - it's been a very productive plant for me this year.

That's where it's at Paul, they're simple to make. What varieties do you have there?

You can never go wrong with pickled jalapeno rings, Paul!   Actually, I think you can - don't pickle store-bought jalapenos! We learned our lesson and are never doing that again....

We made some nachos last night, and added some pickled Zapotec Jalaps. Man, those nachos had a really good kick!

I'll keep it short this time...   I haven't posted about the Jalafuego Bonchi in a while - so here it is, still alive and well and full of pods. It needs a little bit of pruning, but it's good to know that one can grow peppers under a kitchen counter:   Here's today's harvest. Top to bottom -...

Thanks Paul,   There's definitely been some ups and downs in this grow - that heat wave was certainly a curve ball, and I don't know what on earth happened to that AAD that just decided to quit at the worst possible time. However, indoor hydro has given me the ability to start a grow in late...

    HeatMiser's 2021 Glog

Thanks guys, it's really been a love/hate thing with this plant. It looks great but it'd look even better if there were a few pods here and there, haha. Anyway, I guess I'll trim it next week if there's no activity by then. Then I think eventually (mid fall-ish) I'll move it to a smaller...

We've had good luck with a feeder in our backyard - they like to check it out every now and then, but I think they were more common a couple of years ago at least.

Things are looking great Paul! Glad your plants made it through that scorcher of a week... Hopefully stable summer temps from now on...

I've been toying around with different variables. The light cycle is set to 12/12 for the Fatalii. The Reaper is on a 14/10 schedule, but still set some pods when it was on 12/12.

Quick update with some good news after all the doom and gloom from the last post...   The Reaper set a few more pods (3!) with the right pheno. Here's a pic of one of them. I'm still puzzled as to why the flowers are dropping like that, but a pod here and there still feels good.   Then, guess...

Thanks Unc!   Yes, the dreaded droopies did a number on the AAD. It must have been due to lack of oxygen. So from now on, I'm adding airstones to my buckets. So far so good with the other plants.   I wonder what the deal is with the flower drop. I have had very poor luck with Chinenses in...

Thanks CD, it was indeed a bummer to find the plants all wilted like that. However, they had mostly fulfilled their purpose and now I can focus on the ones that survived the whole ordeal.    With the Thai, I was able to save a lot of seed, so I'll definitely be growing it again in the future.

fermenting Opinions on Suspicious Growth in Ferment

Thanks guys, the batch was already gone before I saw the posts here, but I started another one already.   The growth on Chillichump's ferment was nasty! I would never have scraped it off if I had that much growth. I had already seen his video on how to tell if a fermentation is healthy or not...

fermenting Opinions on Suspicious Growth in Ferment

Thanks NECM, I had already gone through that thread, and many more on the site. The typical post/question around this shows either a layer of kham, or a science experiment gone very, very wrong  . I think I'm going to toss it just to be safe - it's not worth it to get sick over a few...

fermenting Opinions on Suspicious Growth in Ferment

"When in doubt throw it out", or so they say.   Well, I have what I'm pretty sure is some mold growing here. Other than this, everything seems fine, and the ferment passes the sniff test with flying colors.   This ferment has been going on for a little over 2 weeks. I use glass weights to keep...

    HeatMiser's 2021 Glog

Things got a bit busy the past couple of weeks. Seems like I have some time right now for an update, so here it goes...   Let's start with the good news...   Here's the first ripe reaper. Small and off-pheno, but I think that's because it was one of the first pods to set. Now, I must say that I...
