I will not lie on a customs form just to grow a plant. No way, no how.
If I find something I might try the mailing seeds option.
The only other option to me is to harvest seeds and declare them.
I travel way too much to risk getting put on a list of some sort.
At the end of the month I am going to be spending a few days in Trinidad about an hour south of Port of Spain.
If I find chillis in the local markets, can I bring them home to the US? Anything I should look for? Any other advice?
Again, I am going to soak these plants every other week and whatever happens happens. If they pick up bad mites on their own they will have to pick up good ones on their own.
I have nuked my plants with the sulfur stuff and pruned them. Here are how most of my affected plants look.
I have one more I will butcher after the fruit ripens.
Thanks for all the info. 80% of my plants are still in solo cups so treating e erything has been easy, though I feel like an idiot for no isolating earlier.
After I harvest some fruit I am going to radically prune. Only one of the plants are must- haves.
Thanks again.
OK. So it stands to reason that any plants that are infected will spread the pest to any plant it touches, right? So I should really isolate those plants in my garden, right?
I guess that's kind of common-sense.
Also, are the fruit on those plants still safe to eat?
Should you be worried? Of course. That's what gardening is all about.
It's that peaceful endeavor of never knowing if months of work will be for nothing.
Help me out folks. If this is broad mites, the leaves won't come back, they will stay damaged, right?
Do I have to wait to see what new growth looks like to see if I am winning / solving the problem?
Though there is some disagreement, I seem to have broad mites. You can catch all the fun here http://thehotpepper.com/topic/63808-could-this-be-something-other-than-over-watering/?p=1425291
I sprayed with some soapy stuff and have ordered some other stuff today.
I ordered the BONIDE PRODUCT 141 SULFUR PLANT FUNGICIDE from Amazon and it should be here Saturday night. I went ahead and used the Safer Brand 5118 Insect Killing Soap today. We shall see the progress.
