I've read most everything on this forum and all over the web. My results have mostly sucked the hind tit though. I'm currently trying yet another method of rooting in dirt with controlled humidity and full sun.
What I believe to be the major problem here is the lack of air flow in order to...
This hybrid just keeps going up and up no matter what I do. I've topped it 4 times now and it just bushes out but still reaching for the stars. Its also amazingly dense with thousands of new blooms on it. I gave up trying to pick all the pods it carries so there's about an inch of them...
My sole reaper is now 2 and in in 50% shade. Its blooming again now for the 3rd time this year. Sets pods each cycle but likes the higher humidity like we have now.
I was born and raised in Indiana and I would say only 3 months of the year would I rather be back there. Our humidity does come up along with 113 like today. It sucks but when the humidity comes back up the plants thrive again. They don't like the hot and super dry much.
Forgot to mention the other thing I find odd about this cross. Seeds planted in full sun out here do not do well at all. Chiltepin in the wild really benefit growing under a "nurse" tree and live for many many years. The original seeds I started this cross with I picked from a few wild plants...
It along with all the front garden is on a drip system twice a day for 20 minutes. Soil is always moist or the onion, garlic and eggplants will die. I use a mix of bone meal, blood meal, epson salt and miracle grow to be honest. Dump them all in a 5 gallon bucket and mix then scatter a...
That plant died out and the small one next to it grew over into and around its support cages. Cages still there now helping support its next gen. Would still be a good candidate for the next growdown IMHO.
Each generation in my attempt is several seeds from the last gen grown out to where I harvest a pod and do the same again. Mostly indoors in the grow room. Then the plant goes outside to grow up. Call BS, its cool. I have good results and thats what I'm interested in. Not a competition here.
Your entitled to your opinion no matter how incorrect it may be. In the NE I'd agree with you even with an indoor grow.
BTW the 2.5 yr old Reaper is in that first pic lower left and its blooming yet again for the third time this year. It's a little yellowed due to over watering from a few...
Before the critics show up I hope this short video can be seen here just shot in 116f garden temps currently. I'm seriously tired of picking these guys.

One of my hybrids went into the ground last October and it's just incredible the growth and production. The recent "too late to top" post caused this post without hijacking his. I'm topping and pruning this plant every other week and use a step ladder or climb onto the roof to do so. I gave...
I easily get 3 to 4 harvests a year here between greenhouse and garden. F9 are very small plants now but starting to bloom so if pods form I'll get a couple before it cools off to the good growing season.
Only 8 pods on the plant and all look the same, picked all yesterday but new blooms so its not done for the year. Plant is only about 1' tall and bushy.
They look awesome, kind of afraid to taste one.
Most of the hybrids have turned out looking more like a miniature jalapeno that ripens vertically. This single plant grows these tiny pods resembling the reaper yet very small. Largest pod is 5/8". Going to keep at this strain I think.
