My entire grow this year has been continuesly crossing Reapers with Arizona Chiltepins I harvested in remote wild locations. I opened each pod and germinated all the seeds from each in the same solo cup and let them grow out. Most did, some died off. Now that it has cooled off into the low...
Turns out this late season heat has really kicked the plants in the tail end to produce! Pods are doubling daily with no more blossom drop at all. I never considerred ants being polinators but the little tiny ones are all over the plants including the flowers gatherring nector I guess, but...
True but going in to October the 100's are rare and 109 is near record. These plants have been just bursting with blooms since July but all drop off. Many pods have set now and I'll watch to see if the heat this week makes them drop. My gut says the pods already set will be fine and all new...
I started with a wild Native Chiltepin from here in Arizona and have been crossing with a few different Reapers. Saved seeds from the most vigorous to cross again. The current fruit starts vertical and then rotates down when ripening. These guys are more prolific than any Chiltepin with 1"...
I have 12 very vigorous F3 crosses yet to produce any fruit this summer because of the heat causing blossom drop. All were started late this spring and most are now 5' tall and very bushy, one is now bushing out but still slim and over 7' tall. As its been cooling down to closer to 100 f and...
Poor mans vacuum sealer... Fill sink with water and stuff peppers into quality zip lock bag. Zip it up almost all the way and hold under the water to get all / most of the air out then zip it up under water and your done. Deeper the water the better it works.
ALL of my peppers are currently dropping each and every flower. Its a problem each year when our temps average above 105 and humidity is low. It will soon change with the monsoons starting up and the sheer numbers of flowers that keep coming on should equate to more pods than I can use.
The 1/2 gallon milk jugs for pots are a good idea for sure. Here we have to also consider humidity levels so right now all of my new starts for the fall/winter grow are also under the tops of the recycled containers I use. Milk jugs around here are not clear so light is starved. I'm using...
Garden went from a nice mild low 90's and 28% humidity to 135 (in the sun where the plants are) and 12% humidity in only a couple of days. Summer is finally here and it came late and instant. Cucumbers and melons as well as all tomatoes are tits up. Strawberries and peppers are hanging in...
Fence and a barking dog is best honestly. And when I say dog I don't mean a little ankle biter thats just going to be eagle/hawk food.
Also motion triggered lights and sound effects can work well. Not hard to make from typical big box hardware store items.
I don't know of any organic or otherwise chemical that discriminates to only kill the "BAD" bugs.

My F2's are getting ready to flower again and I'm in need of reaper pollen since my Reapers are almost tits up. Will trade seeds or ? for pollen.
Our up and down warming this year couple by a few floods of the garden killed many plants including I thought all 4 reapers. I left the sticks standing and now they all show this kind of rebirth. Going to leave them in and see just what happens now that our temps are triple digits daily.
Yup, too much of it will kill everything, too little will render the same results.
A day later now from my attack with this horrid creation of oils and all I have left bug wise is a vastly reduced number of adult whiteflies when I was picking cucumbers and peppers this morning. Brought a...
