I bought 4 plants from Hirts on Ebay back in Mid May, and they were like 6 inches probably at that point. Now they are both probably only 3 feet tall, however they are very wide...I don't have a measurement on them atm but they are wide enough to be bushes lol. For whatever reason they decided...
Yep, I recently discovered the whole bananas thing and was SO amazed at how much they help with preventing stomach discomfort. Eat a few bannanas the day before and a few a hour or two before actually eating the peppers. Nothings going to help that initial mouth burn, but stomach pain is by...
I did get these from hirts actually, and was very worried about them being habs or carribian reds. However looking at this first pepper I am very very encouraged that they are indeed bhuts. To me..and someone more experienced can chime in here, this first pod looks like a text book bhut jolokia.
Unfortunately I cannot take a close up pic of the flowers as my phone is the only camera i have and it will not focus well enough for a close up thats doesnt blur way to much. I didn't notice any green really on the flowers..pretty much all white. As for how they taste i'm still waiting on...
To me...however this is my first time ever growing peppers....it looks like i may have gotten lucky on my ebay purchase.
And speed ahead about 3 days and it now looks like this...
If anyone wants seeds for these I would be definitly interested in trading! I did/am isoloating the flowers!
These still have not changed colors!! :( They have turned a lighter green but are definitly still green...is it possible that this particular pepper doesnt turn a particular color when ripe and just lightens?
Despite Heat indexes being over 100 all week long my bhut jolokias have absolutely taken off....I guess they didn't get the message that its hot out. No flower drop, and even had my first pods set this week.
Looks oddly like a tomato! In all seriousness though I think i recall seeing a similar looking pepper in a recent thread. I just can't recall which thread..but just like i thought when seeing this one i thought man that pepper looks like a tomato.
I think alot of people would be very interested in a scoville-o-meter, myself included. Sure you can taste it but theres no way to be sure with just your tounge.
I am going to try this, I'll keep you all documented with pics on this process beginning whenever i get germination  . Pointers along the way will be much appreciated!!
Awhile back I posted that I bought seeds on ebay of trinidad scorpions. I got them in the mail yesterday and just to see I put a seed in my mouth and chewed it up as best as i could and held it in my mouth for quite awhile. I could detect maybe very very slight tingle of heat, and that was...
Isn't pruning how you get them to kind of go dormant for the winter? I guess i'm kind of confused about the different processes. Which brings me to another question, if I were to purchase the lighting equipment necessary. How much impact does that have on the electric bill for those that do it?
