Bhutman, according to Jim the scorpions used were Butch T, even though they weren't labeled as such. I would be willing to throw down a little on some DNA testing.

You can't ever guaruntee that someone can reproduce a certain SHU in any given climate, it doesn't work that way. No one can guaruntee that your bhut jolokias will reach 1 million SHUs either, there are too many factors. That's like asking a seed vendor to guaruntee that your plants will reach...

food I got a Mortar abd Pestle... Now?

A molcajete and tejolote is an essential tool for making Mexican food. Good for grinding spices and seeds or making salsas, moles, pastes, and guacamole. Por ejemplo: Pastes, salsas, etc. made with a molcajete have a different texture that you don't get from a blender.

To me, that's very sloppy journalism, at best. The author gets basic information wrong by saying that the Bhut was the previous record holder, completely ignoring the Butch T. That is information she could have found with about 5 seconds of googling. There is a grammatical error in the very...

    Anyone growing Kiwi's?

These were only about 1' tall, so I suppose that makes a bit more sense. But kiwis are a pretty fast growing, low-maintenance vine, so for me it's not worth paying that much money for a bigger one. $60 for a 3-4 year old, slow growing tree is one thing, but not for a kiwi that can reach that...

    Anyone growing Kiwi's?

Which kind are they selling? The large, fuzzy, grocery store kind, or the small, smooth-skinned hardy/arctic kiwi? $60 a plant is a little extreme. Lowe's here had the hardy kiwis for like $10 a plant. I'm sure you can find them online much cheaper than $60 per plant even after shipping...

    Pro-mix bx price

2.8 is dry and compressed I believe, I've never actually seen it, but the 1 isn't. The 1 cu ft. bags don't have much moisture though. The outdoor mix has some composted pine bark in it so it's probably a little heavier. Not sure how much but it's only about 50% peat moss. They used to have...

I thought the 2.8 cu ft. ones were new, the first I ever heard of them was on this board last year. The OP said 3 cu ft., so I don't know if he means the 2.8 or 3.8. I would like to get my hands on some of this for perennials... http://www.pthorticulture.com/en/pro-mix-brk-growing-medium/...

    I HAVE A NEW LOVE!!

I suppose it's possible. It's true about dougla meaning a half-African half-Indian person. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dougla But maybe that refers to the color of the pods and not necessarily being a cross? We'll probably never really know its lineage unless someone wants to do some DNA...

Looking for a tasty hot pepper without the citrus flavor

Most chinenses and a lot of baccatums have a citrus flavor imo. So maybe chiltepin/pequin, chile de arbol, cayenne, tobasco, malagueta, piri piri, mirasol, super chili? They have a more earthy flavor. I agree with Romy too, the chinenses he listed don't really have a citrus flavor.

Mine were hotter than a 3-peckered goat but I don't really like the flavor.

Is a pepper a fruit of vegetable Poll

Some fruits and vegetables ripen off the plant, some don't. Bananas have seeds in them, they've just been bred so that the seeds are small and not noticeable or functional. Check out a wild banana with normal seeds

Are you talking about the 3.8 cu ft. bale or the smaller one they started offering recently? If it's the 3.8 cu ft. bale that's a good price. That's the same price I get it for, but a lot of places sell it for $35+.

A little surprised at the 2 million mark but not at all surprised at the culprit. The mourougas I grew were insane.

Peppers and tomatoes are fruit, but ketchup is a vegetable (according to Ronny Raygun and the USDA).

seeds Tepin Germination - Best Methods?

What kind of potting mix did you use? What are the temperatures and how are you measuring them? How deep did you plant them? How long were they in the potting mix? Did you keep the potting mix moist? Could be bad seeds, who knows. So far I've had 3 varieties out of about 30 that nothing...

    Extending the growing season.

I would focus on starting seeds indoors early and putting out large, well developed plants as early as possible. If you put out good sized plants you can get a nice harvest even if you only have June, July, and August for warm weather. If you're growing in the ground you can lay black fabric...
