That is very wrong.

The TMV virus is very stable and can survive outside a live host for decades at temperatures from 4 C to 40 C...
It took me a long time to figure out that my problem was thrips. By then, the weather was very hot and the remedies I had discovered at that point were almost as harmful to the plants as the pests. I tried pyrethrin based spray insecticide, which was minimally effective against the thrips and...
I second the diagnosis of insect damage. I had thrips last year and my leaves looked identical to yours. When you examine your plants, look very closely at the smallest new leaves. You may need a magnifying glass. Thrips like to eat the tender new growth and they hide in the tiny crevices of the...
Do assassins kill ladybugs? I have only ever noticed them killing smaller flying bugs. I have never observed an assassin vs ant situation, but that is just one random guy's experience.
Wrong plant. Peppers don't have separate growth and bloom cycles, they just keep on growing while they are blooming and fruiting. Feed them a balanced set of nutrients and supplement as needed based on observed symptoms.

I have grown Mucho Nacho in the past and was very happy with the flavor and heat level. Not the hottest jalapenos I have ever had, but definitely above the average grocery pepper. I just googled up "extra hot jalapeno varieties" and over at sandia seeds they claim to have a variety that comes in...
$50-$100 per year on peppers. If you count the rest of the garden our household spend is probably around $250-$300 in a typical year. We grow everything outside and most of it is in the dirt. Some years we spend more if we are putting up new/replacement trellis or building a new bed, but I don't...
As promised, one mutant seedling, and a bonus shot of the whole class. with the mutant that makes 100% germination, most in 7-11 days. I'd say the seeds are very robust.
So, 5 of 6 seeds germinated in the 7-11 day range. I had just written off that 6th seed until today. Day 16 the seedling comes up, and it has 4 cotyledons  I feel like I found a 5 leaf clover. I'll snap a pic in the morning. I've been giving them a good dose of sun and the first set of...
I had some "Fear the Reaper" sauce last night. The first ingredient is reaper peppers, so I assume it is representative. The heat profile was like nothing I have ever experienced. For the first 5-6 seconds there was no heat at all...none, just a really intense pepper fruit flavor. Then there was...
That looks like some kind of bean plant. Every bean I have grown has needed protection from the afternoon sun. Supposedly there are some kinds of bush beans that can tolerate the full blast Texas sun, but I have never gotten around to planting any.
For the Ghosts I grew a few years back and any upper tier Habs or other superhots, I take the fresh pod and slice off real thin pieces to go with whatever I am eating. Usually I only make it through about half a pod in any one meal. The rest of the pod I wrap up in plastic wrap and throw in the...
I am in Houston, TX and for several years I have grown peppers in the full sun with no problems. The last 3 years the location I have put many of my peppers gets sun all day until the last 1-2 hours before dusk when they are shaded by a fence. They also miss the first hour or so after sunrise...
Depends on the variety and the conditions they have been growing in. They grow peppers out in open fields in New Mexico and I can tell you the sun is on full blast out there. Some of the peppers with purple foliage seem to like part shade, but most of the peppers I have grown do fine in the full...
ZZZZZZOOOOOOOOOOOOmmmmmmmmmmmmm
You know you are a true grower when a pic like that gets you all hot and bothered. The soil! The climate! All those beautiful terraced plots of land! Tropical highlands got it going on.
