    Curry peppers 2020

I've seen mockingbirds peck holes into my scotch bonnets to get the seeds out, that could be a possibility. They would also clean off my chiltepin as soon as the peppers ripened.

SKULLBIKERS Roaring Into The Twenties GLOG

Apparently it turns into an Alope Sphinx Moth (Erinnyis alope). Must be a Florida thing lol

SKULLBIKERS Roaring Into The Twenties GLOG

You may already know, but that isn't the same kind (Manduca sexta) of hornworm that eats peppers/tomatoes/eggplant/datura. What plant is that?

    Curry peppers 2020

Those red insects were hatchling leaf-footed bugs. They feed on the plants, but I have never noticed any issues or damage, which is surprising considering they feed in a similar fashion as Brown marmorated Stink Bugs, which do cause damage to pepper fruits. Since they are generalists it...

    Cascabellas but not cascabellas

There are plenty of an annuum that point up, so no, pointing up certainly doesn't mean frutescens.

    Year end review 2019

    1. What were the best peppers you grew this year? why?   Jwala, ended up with a good last minute harvest despite late start and growing in a few hours of morning sun. Perfect chilli for using in our Indian food.   2. What challenges did you have this year? did you solve them? how?   Late start...

    Most productive pepper?

Jwala/Pusa Jwala is a very, very productive cayenne type (hotter and better than cayenne). Lemon Drop is a very productive variety as well

Wiri's 2019 Adventures with "Wilds" & Others Glog

Although some plants may produce an aroma if gently brushed, usually you won't smell the fragrance until the leaf is broken/cut/cooked. I've had some very fragrant plants, and some that were not as fragrant.

    2019 Hay Bale Pepper Patch

Nice nest! They certainly can be defensive creatures. No worries on that one being perennial though, it should be done any day now, if not already. Often times other wasps and insects use the nests to overwinter in after the colony expires, giving the impression that it is still active. If...

    indoor Indoor Reaper

Pretty normal for a plant to drop leaves after being brought indoors, doesn't mean it is dying. As others mentioned, several reasons why this occurs.

Top 10 hottest peppers - Help needed

There are so many variations, one hit wonders, and crosses out there, many unstable. Although maybe an unpopular idea, I would suggest going with the 10 hottest land races and/or heirlooms...for example Trinidad 7pot, Trinidad (7pot) Douglah, Trinidad Scorpion, Bhut Jolokia (or whichever name...

misc How old is/was your oldest hot pepper plant?

I'm just curious about how long people have kept a pepper going in the ground or in a container. I kept one C. frutescens pequin type from Mexico for 3 summers and two overwinters...it dried out while I was on vacation the third overwinter...even though I had someone that was supposed to water it.

Aji seeds direct from Peru. Translate?

Just in case you weren't already going to do so, I would highly recommend that you just refer to them as the Peruvian label refers to them, no name changing or translating. There are many varieties around the world that look/taste the same, and they may/may not be the same, but always stick with...

What are some good tasting ornamental varieties?

Supposedly "Prairie Fire" is a good one, but I can't seem to find it anymore. Purira, Aji omnicolor, and generic Thai (clustering type) are very ornamental in my opinion, but not necessarily true "ornamentals".

Murraya koenigii aka Curry Leaf plant

Indispensable ingredient for a lot of Indian dishes I make. I always have at least one plant around, and they are pretty easy to overwinter in a window. Glad to see other people enjoying, I LOVE the fragrance, so unique!

Something tells me it's not Aji Omnicolor

looks like an annuum seed made it in with the omnicolor, definitely not a baccatum of any kind.

    Pequin or Chiltepin or...?

It reminds me of the "chiltepe" (no, not chiltepin) from Guatemala I once grew out from seeds my Guatemalan friend brought from Guatemala for me.

    Green peppers

There are only a handful of peppers that are green when "ripe", the grand majority of green peppers are just unripe fruits and if left on plant will eventually ripen to another color.

    Hornworm problems

Yes, the peppers are still safe to eat if that is what you are asking. The hornworms don't make them poisonous by feeding on them.
