    pruning Pruning question

Just a few ideas that pop into my mind:     Con - you would be cutting off the new growth of side branches, which will in turn stifle flower production, which occurs at the ends (later on becoming nodes) Con - you will be delaying output of pods, though not preventing their growth, just a delay...

container Container gardening - Are 15 gallon nursery pots OK for two plants?

Direct answer to your specific question: yes, a 15 gallon pot can support two pepper plants.   It can't hurt to test it out for yourself, but I would suggest to trim the branches that try to cross over to the other plant. It's not needed, but keeping them separated can be helpful for a few...

    seeds Germinating tepin seed

A heating mat with a temp regulator is the best thing you can ever buy yourself for germinating seeds. I lay a folded bath towel over the mat and place the seeds/bag and the regulator's probe inside the folded towel.     Below is just an example I found on Amazon.

    helmet head

If you are able to GENTLY pinch the seed long-ways, with the edges of the seed against your fingers (instead of the flat sides against your finger), sometimes you can separate the two sides enough for the plant to expell the helmet, or you may even be able to lift it off.   If you keep the...

seeds What to do about white mold on seedlings?

Usually white fungus is good; yellow, brown, green, or grey is bad. Often you will find this white fungus growing in the roots when transplanting (I see it in bonsai/trees all the time) it helps feed the roots and some bonsai gurus recommend to be sure to scrape some of it in the new medium when...

    Vermiculite vs. Perlite

my vote: I use both... Actually I use pumice, perlite, and vermiculite (heavier on the perlite in the seedling mix, and heavier on the pumice in the growing soil; I use heavier vermiculite in the seedling mix, but still use it in the growing soil)

    cloning DIY EZ Clone Bucket

Just to give my opinion on the heat question, I have found that I get the best results when the water temp is between 76 and 79 degrees f.   My system is a bubble cloner, so it is a little different, but same idea.     .

    New to Hot Peppers

HAHA, and I thought it was chilly here at +65f durign the day (about 43f at night)... I still have pepper plants flowering in my front yard right now. LOL, sorry, not trying to rub it in :halo:

    New to Hot Peppers

Maybe 3 large bags (4-6 cu ft or so) of castings and roughly the same of the perlite. Just a rough guess though, based on your size. I'm sure you could even add more than that and be even better off.   I'm not sure that it's possible to use too much worm castings... Just be sure your soil...

    New to Hot Peppers

Lots of worm castings and perlite (or crushed pumice). That'll be a good start. From there, maybe some compost.   Yes, you can use ash and small left-over coals; they hold nutrients really well, but it will not be a huge overall difference.   Oh, and welcome!

indoor Keeping cats away from indoor plants?!

I wonder if cats would stay away from a plant whose leaves were coated in neem... it would change the smell and taste of the leaves, and neem is pretty safe for the plants (if used somewhat correctly, plenty of room for error)

misc Give a shout-out to the most productive variety you've grown...

I'm with you on growing 'usable' peppers. I love the idea of the ultra hots too, and have grown many, but when it comes to consuming what I grow (instead of giving them away as novelty), I prefer moderate heat and lots of flavor.   I would recommend Brazilian Starfish if you're open for...

    mrgg*s PURPLE playground

It's a beautiful plant, but a little bland on the flavor. Has a kind of Bhut/hab/Chinense flavor, but watered down. Still, it is a stunning plant with nice purple/green leaves, strong/dark-purple stems, and a really nice looking pod.   Very nice heat to it, slightly more than the average hab...

overwintering First endeavor into over wintering

I agree with the new, tender growth statement from Brocoli, and the aeration statement as well.   I made my own bubble cloner (click - link to google pics of bubble cloners) and have been getting 100% success for a wihle now. I use only tap water and keep it at 76 degrees. I have a pic of my...
