    Hornworm damage

Annnnnnnnd, in my experience, there's never just one.   [EDIT]:  Yes, we are talking hornworms.  A couple of years ago, I had a single tomato plant on my deck, off which I picked a total of 17 hornworms in various stages of development, from a half inch long to full grown granddaddy size.  And...

sinensis grow log 2019 (with tomato grafting!)

I'll be waiting with baited breath.  I've tried grafting tomatoes a couple of times.  YouTube makes it look so easy, but I've never succeeded.

SKULLBIKERS 2019 Container and Kratky GLOG

+1 on the ventilation kit!  Add a roll of Gorilla tape to that!    I'll bet good money no one's going to be crawling around on the roof of that box in August in Florida.

SKULLBIKERS 2019 Container and Kratky GLOG

Good luck with the move!  It's been my experience that a constant light breeze is more important than light and will help, even if a little, with the extreme temps.  Hopefully, you won't have to deal with a heat wave when you do transport them and that box truck will have more than one ceiling...

    Strip LED growlamp with controller

My bad.  I was under the impression most LED lights emit UV wavelengths, even if in very small amounts.  If that IS correct, I suspect even a small amount of UV would degrade a cable tie over time.  I, personally, wouldn't risk even the very small chance of degradation, if no risk was possible.

Nan's Trying it Again 2019 Veggie Garden

It's been a struggle keeping things relatively healthy, given the crappy weather patterns. All things considered, I am pleased with how my first year here is progressing. Closeup reports will follow soon.

    sun Dropping during direct sunlight

Thank you for your insights!  Looking at our weather history for the past two months, one would never suspect I was in Pennsylvania.  More like south Florida.   There are three each of the Aleppo and Piment d'Espelette and two of the Mad Hatters.  As an experiment, I'll give the "spike"...

    Who knows what this is.......

Phosphorus is the P in N-P-K.  Good for root development, blossoming and fruiting.  So, yes!, good for peppers.  But, not exclusively.  They still need the nitrogen and potash for other growth and health factors.  And, some believe too much phosphorus is bad for the environment.

Also, purslane prefers rich soil and is an indicator of high phosphorus.

    sun Dropping during direct sunlight

Solid7, thanks for the quick response. I'll confess...I was hoping you would offer an opinion. I wouldn't say the pots are waterlogged, they're just not drying out... They're fabric pots, sitting on mulch on landscape fabric, in a constant state of moist...wetter than peppers like to be. I...

    sun Dropping during direct sunlight

Not intending to hijack this thread, but I have a question about recovering, heat- and water-stressed plants.  Okay, assume:   It's been hotter than Hades, the plants wilt daily, then perk back up in the evening, the existing flowers drop, and torrential rains arrive at least twice a week, but...

You mean like this Dutchie spoon? My own 2 hands made it on DHs belt sander! Just the right angle to scrape the bottom of the pot without throwing out my shoulder. Ya, they work gud!

Nan's Trying it Again 2019 Veggie Garden

Thanks,CD! It was too hot to do much of anything in the garden today, so I just pollinated whatever passion and squash flowers were open, watered whoever needed it and visited everyone else. The NuMex Sauve Orange plants are doing very well, all things considered. Take a look at all the new...
