food Forgive me for I have sinned

Thank you for saving me the trouble of giving it a try. I keep looking at it, but have always had a nagging feeling that it just won't have that same magic salivary gland taste that real Chorizo has. On the subject of Soy based meat substitute... In case any one is wondering about the Soy dogs...

I need a new Spice supplier

Thanks for the suggestion. If their Chipotle powder price is correct, they are a whole lot cheaper than Penzeys. I'll give them a try on a small order and see how their quality is, but so far their selection and prices are better on most items.

I need a new Spice supplier

Just a good general spice place. Mainly just wondering who else other than Penzeys has decent prices and good quality. I can find stuff doing online searches that are decently priced, but have no way of knowing how fresh their product is without hearing reviews from others.

I need a new Spice supplier

I couldn't really find a forum that was dedicated to topics like this, so I figured the cooking forum would be best since it is most closely related. So, For over a decade I have used Penzeys for almost all of my spice purchases. That came to an end this week when I got their newest "Catalog"...

    105 degrees. I mean, seriously. C'mon already.

I actually think my neighbor having all of her trees really trimmed up short 2 months ago is the contributing factor. My Aji's are up beside the west wall so they get afternoon shade. Her trees used to keep the other side of the wall shaded all day long, now it gets direct sun for a few hours...

    105 degrees. I mean, seriously. C'mon already.

Mine are all really close together under a shade canopy and the heat is still getting them. lots of afternoon wilt, and lots of pod drop of almost mature pods. The soil isn't soaked, but anymore water on them daily and they'll drown. Mine also get an Epsom spray, they keep flowering and growing...

    105 degrees. I mean, seriously. C'mon already.

I feel your pain. It was 111* at my place this afternoon. It's just destroying everything. Even with Shade and as cool a breeze way as they could be in my Aji Lemons dropping pods like crazy. I may get one off of it out of 25 or so pods on that plant.

    blenders Blender fried

You can keep buying blenders every couple of years like my wife and I did. We went through several Kitchenaid's, And a couple of other brands. We had enough and bought a Blendtec Yeah, the price is up there, but we use the thing every day for breakfast smoothies, I use it all the time for sauce...

Habanero and Jolokia keep on falling...

If it has been hot there than that is the reason. I have been dealing with it all season here because of the heat. Do you mean you cut off leaves from the plants? Don't do that, That is what generates the energy a plant needs to grow. Think of them as the "power plants" of the plants. It won't...

    harvesting Beginning of my harvest

This is what I picked tonight, with more to come in the next few weeks. Top left is Serrano, Right is Purira, and bottom are Thai Dragons. Some of the Thai's I picked 3 days ago and have been drying. I only have one Serrano plant, but that will be changing for next year. I still have a bunch...

Sick as hell, is this normal?

It's either a bad case of pepper gut or something was wrong with your Burger. Could have been bad meat as I've had the same thing happen to me from that as well. I hope you feel better.

    grilling 4th of July Grilling!

Here is a shot of the Poppers, and as much of the pie as I could get a picture of before it was gone... The chicken, well, lets just say Acohol got in the way of me taking pictures of the chicken. I just forgot to do it. It came out great though. I also seriously did have 76 cents out for one...

    grilling 4th of July Grilling!

What the F is 76 cents for? For 1776? Some one here might end up swallowing that. Seriously, I have a bunch of delinquent self proclaimed Rock N Roll stars coming over. I just ran to the store cause I realized I was severely missing something... Whiskey!!! And Corn. How could I forget the corn...
