    Cappy's Capsicum 2011

Very impressive Cappy, I know that plant had to be a good producer. Makes me want to try a Brain Strain in my raised bed just for the hell of it. I think that's the tallest plant in a pot I've ever seen.

    breeding Chocolate Bhut Cross?

IMO - the pods with the red guts are just more mature. I've seen it in Chocolate Habs as well as Chocolate Bhuts. We need Potawie to chime in.

Can this season get any worse?

With the size of those stones, I'd worry more about my car than my plants. Last time I saw hail stones that big, I was in Savannah, GA in July of 1995. It went from 98F to 50F in 5 minutes. It wasn't pretty.

    ThePepperGrowingMan's 2011 Grow Log

Beautiful job on this thread Jeremy. Lots and lots of impressive stuff - that 5 foot Brain Strain is positively Cappy-like. BTW - the one Giant Jolokia container plant that I moved onto grass is now my healthiest - it used to be my worst. I need to get more plants off the asphalt next year...

    Justaguy's 2011 Garden Season

Your Red Fatalii reminds me of a plant I grew a few years ago. The seeds were originally labeled Fatalii, but the pods looked similar to what you have. I ended up calling it a Fatabanero because I thought it was a Fatalii-Hab cross. Very tasty and hot pod though - I need to grow it again...

    Leaf curl

Sometimes I think the roots just get too hot when using containers. I had lots of leaf curl this year and I don't think it was a nutrient or watering problem. I'm thinking the plants will straighten themselves out as the weather cools. The few plants I had in a raised bed weren't affected.

Hey Emilio - long time, no talk! Hope all is going well - let me know if you need any seeds. I have 3 different types of Serrano now, just got a couple of different ones from an heirloom seed company. - Tony

    Dorset Naga?

Here's a bowl of Dorset Nagas I grew in 2009. Seeds came from Neil at THSC which he got directly from the source.

    Dshlogg's Plants, Peppers, and Flowers

Gorgeous plants! They don't look like they belong to a "rookie" grower.

favorite Favorite Ancho and favorite Jalapeno varieties

Biker Billy are the only Jalapenos I've grown with consistent heat. Some are extremely hot and take you by surprise. With any Jalapeno though, the heat can be inconsistent from pod to pod.

    fertilizer Fertilizer

No, it's not worth the effort IMO. The MG soil comes with timed release fertilizer and I doubt you need anything more for the rest of this year. Just don't water them too much and you can get decent results. Let the pots get light and the plants wilt a little before you add water. MG does a...

Yeah, surprisingly a few plants turned out fine in spite of the heat, but most suffered. The Giant Jolokia pods really aren't that bad, they only pale in comparison to the spectacular ones you sent me last year. Round two on all these pods could be interesting. Thanks - it's neat when they...

Thanks SS - they are mean! - best for sauces and powder - the delayed reaction from eating them fresh is just not worth it. I think my black pots on asphalt helped the plants grow back in April and May as the roots got warm. But it really took its toll on the plants in July as the roots got...
