To Trim or not to Trim?

I personally never snip any leaves anywhere. If they are solid yellow and about to fall off, I'll help them along. My lower leaves in containers constantly get soil on them when I water. No big deal, I brush off what I see and keep on truckin'. Leaves are the horsepower that make pods grow...

    ortho insecticidal soap

Soap will work - you just have to be diligent and thorough with multiple applications. Rub the soap on your fingers and then rub both side of each and every leaf. Also rub the stem with soapy fingers. Normally after 3-4 applications in a 10 to 14 day period - the aphids are history.

Cayennes rotting on the plant, HELP!

Could be BER (blossom end rot) - that causes the pod to ripen faster than normal and fall off. Over watering is usually the cause, but sometimes it just happens. Check your plants in the morning to see how "happy" they are regarding water, even well watered plants can get droopy in the late...

AJs Trinidad Scorpion Project in Mississippi

Incredible plants AJ - that has to be a rough drive going back and forth - I figure at least 300 miles one way. I'm sure you're learning a ton of stuff this year and things will be more streamlined next year. Are the pods selling at the retail level?

    seeds Sick seedlings

What soil are they in? Does the soil already have nutes? They look like too much water & too many nutes. 90% of the time, that seems to be the problem. People love their plants to death. Leave them alone for a while and they'll recover. Chiles grow fine in dirt all by themselves in the...

    Brain Strain vs Butch T

People just don't understand that a Brain Strain is some sort of genetic freak that's all placenta and oil. I can eat one, as long as I give myself a week. I have never grown the Butch T, but I'd like too. I'll have to grow it alongside the BS and do a back to back test. I can follow Omri's...

Beautiful pics. Those Douglah pods especially have great color. I've yet to have any ripen here myself, they appear to be my slowest.

    ThePepperGrowingMan's 2011 Grow Log

Good to know - the plant size on my #1 Giant Bhut is impressive, and it has plenty of pods - the pods are OK in size right now, just not Giant. It's 104F here right now and that's not helping. Supposed to cool off in a few days so I'll post an update on my thread early next week. I'll stop...

    ThePepperGrowingMan's 2011 Grow Log

Your Chocolate Bhuts look great Jeremy. Right now, my Choc Bhuts are bigger in pod size than my Giant Bhuts. Are the Giant Bhuts late bloomers? I know the pods I got from you were absolutely huge so I'm hoping they grow eventually.

How are everyone's plants doing in this heat?

Plants in containers suffer more - the roots get too hot. What little I have in the ground is doing fine.

Orange Hab Hotter Than Red Savina?

Yeah, they were both homegrown - the Red Savina was hot but not insane. Below a Fatalii in heat. The last time I grew Caribbean Reds(Burpee Seeds) I thought they were very hot, but it's been so many years ago my point of reference is out of whack. At the time I grew the CR's they were the...

Orange Hab Hotter Than Red Savina?

My personal experience of growing both shows the Red Savina to be much hotter, maybe even twice as hot. I find both to be tasty though and the Orange Hab is certainly worth growing.
