Shigshwa's Grow Log 2015-2016 (Hydro Grow of Carolina Reapers)

Now I wanna gauge how hot it is. I ate about 1/4 of it. Spicy, but not superhots level spicy, and that's coming from a non chilihead! I'll get the results tomorrow, I got school soon.

Shigshwa's Grow Log 2015-2016 (Hydro Grow of Carolina Reapers)

Some bad news. The Bhut Jolokia plant... is a hybrid. I knew something was up when I noticed a light green, thick skinned Bhut. I opened the pot, thick skinned like an annum. Spice? Mediocre. Taste? Like an annum. What a drag... It'll be good for producing many mild peppers for cooking though...

Perlite? With all of the already existing perlite?!? I could never imagine a soil with that much perlite in it..

Shigshwa's Grow Log 2015-2016 (Hydro Grow of Carolina Reapers)

Probably a trait specific to the plant. It really grows more like a Frutescens then a true Chinense, which makes sense, since the Bhut is a cross between the 2. The only plant I've topped is the TS, because it's grown too close to the lights. I find this particular Bhut to be unique compared to...

The root ball... was the entire pot. The roots weren't really circled, just ridiculously numerous..

Shigshwa's Grow Log 2015-2016 (Hydro Grow of Carolina Reapers)

I was 10 dollars for that pot, can you believe it?? Luckily, the manager at my local hydro shop offered me a generous discount for giving her my hydro Bhut. She loves peppers, and has never grown one of those before. So, I got these pots for 3 bucks each!

Thanks! I hope it won't be long before I can get these big boys out in the garden, the tent is getting too big for them! I wouldn't be confident with taking them out till at least late April. Colorado enjoys throwing surprise snow storms!

Fans.... all the time or what ?

I think peppers are just like any other plant. Just not as resilient to being over-loved. I think the fan serves not only to strengthen the stem, but to also cool it down, but I think it would be harmful to the plants if you agitated them all day long. I don't know, that's my guess, but perhaps...

soil transplanting hydro plants into soil

It really isn't. You can tidy up the roots by trimming them down. That's what I did with this particular plant. Trimmed about 50% of it's roots, stuck it in there, no transplant shock.

Shigshwa's Grow Log 2015-2016 (Hydro Grow of Carolina Reapers)

Oh, and btw, here are my two new seedlings, transplanted and moved into the grow room, along with my clones. Trinidad Douglah Giant Jalapeno. Just a bit of helmet head deformation, but it's doing just fine.

Maybe a few more. I don't think the TS pods are very prolific when it comes to seeds anyways. Well... I don't know if you'd want to take my pods, most of them appear to be mutts. However, some of the TS pods do have interesting shapes to them. If you're interested, I certainly could give one...

I like to do it ASAP, when the roots aren't fully developed and branching out. easier to transplant into another pot IMO.

Shigshwa's Grow Log 2015-2016 (Hydro Grow of Carolina Reapers)

Opened the thing, just couldn't wait! As I opened it, the characteristic metallic-ish smell of Trinidad Scorpion filled my nose. How great it was to smell it again! Taste? I wouldn't be able to comment on that.. I'm no chillihead, but I gave it a lick. The burn is different from a Bhut...
