Grass to growbed. What should be done?

I like the idea of covering the area with cardboard/newspaper then mulch - that 'should' kill off anything that's underneath. Alternatively cover the area with weed fabric and poke holes through for your plants.

First Grow, Low Budget Chilli Grow

firstly, I'd take karoo up on his offer, the more seeds you've got to play with the better. Looking at your photos, I'd agree and say you're leaving them on the paper towel a bit too long. I try to take them off the paper as soon as a root shows. IMO, this gives me less chance of damaging the...

    cloning Clone machine

I use something called a mist maker from my aero-pot. This generates something more akin to a fog than a mist but it seems to work quite well. As soon as a root comes I move the clone to my aero garden until I'm happy there's enough roots to plant in soil.

Help improving my setup (heat, light etc)

I picked up a small tube heater from my local hydro store which i use to keep one of my tents warm during the winter months. I control the temperature using a raspberry pi with a 1 wire temp sensor, but there's no reason you couldn't do the same with somekind of temperature probe to switch the...

seeds Is a fish tank ok for seedlings?

I'm sure I won't be the only one with this approach to lighting: I start of with what I think might be enough then add more if I find the plant starting to look leggy. Indoors I use a combination of LED & CFL so adding more is pretty easy. As for wife agro, you're going to get it about something...

    Tiny hab ??

Not a constant temp but the tent isnt allowed to drop below 16 deg c. i'm wondering if i mislabeled it. There's a couple of them look like they've got stingers on the bottom, but they've not got what I think of as the 'knarly' scorpion look deffinitely more the smooth shiney hab look. They'll be...

    Tiny hab ??

As they were in a tent (indoors) they should have been totally unaware of what season it is. They certainly seem a lot hotter than any habs I've had in the past. Think I'll separate this plant and keep it going.

    Tiny hab ??

Was just tidying my chilli tent ready to start propagating this seasons plants. Found 4 of these tiny babies hidden on a plant. The plant was labeled as Hab, but they are seriously small. Shown in the pic is my little finger for a size comparison. They certainly pack a punch, anyone any idea...

seeds Should I germinate some more - but it's almost May!

I'm still germinating in the UK. The growing season here is so short I think most chilli's need to be either in a greenhouse or indoors under lights. I'll be putting a reaper in both situations and see what happens. From my first batch, germinated in January, I've had pods for a few weeks on my...

Who in the UK have planted their plants outside?

If temps stay as they are then I'll hopefully get a few varieties out next weekend. I doubt very much I'll be taking the covers off their tunnels until well into May though.

hydroponic Anyone Have Experience With NFS Hydroponics?

Yes, it works. I used a 4 inch pipe last year mixing a hab in amongst my strawberrys. It grew and produced a few pods but not as many as I'd hoped for. Roots clogging the channel was an issue and I'm not sure what could be done about that. I find that a drip system works better for my chilli's...
