I just noticed that some of my plants are infested with small white creatures. What are they and how do I get rid of them? I also found a few dark ones of similar size? Are they a later stage of the same species?

I have started to see these tiny dots on the stem and on the leaf stems, rarely out on the leaves. I'm not sure if this is normal or some kind of disease. Anyone knows?
