in-ground Peppers better for extreme temps(Arizona)

any other plants growing well in the same soil? did you keep any in containers? 10 gallon is pretty big and expensive if you are bringing in soil/mix. Might need to water twice a day. I would think if the ground or container soil is good and they get enough water they could survive through...

    container Seed trays

For gardeners in mainland USA I suggest 10 inch by 20 inch trays(1020 standard). You can have 36, 50, 72, 144+ cells that fit in that footprint as well as 4 packs, 6 packs, 18 pots/tray, 8 pots/tray, 2 pots/tray and probably many more options. You can also find 10x10 inch trays and jiffy/coir...

indoor What are the best ways to heat a small grow tent?

I've used an aquarium heater in a water tank. Do your own research but I'm estimating a 200W heater in 30 gallons could keep your tent above 50.

misc Growing chillies hanging upside-down ?

Aji Lemondrop or Aji Limon will grow in vines below the container. Not planted upside down but in a hanging basket. In my experience they grow well in cooler temperatures and wilt in hot/dry.

    Aminopyralid(Grazon /HL) concerns

I've just started a compost pile that's more than half horse manure and bedding. No idea if their hay was sprayed so I won't use it everywhere and keep some peppers, beans, tomatoes separate. My gut feeling or maybe wishful thinking is that it's not as big a deal unless you get a very hot...

    consistency Sauce consistency

I always take the skins off tomatoes before using in sauce. It makes for a much smoother blend.

    soil Empire Builder Soil

I transplanted my seedlings into EB this year. It's great. My transplants eventually go into something cheaper or in the ground, but this is really great stuff. I even transplanted some very young sprouts and there was no burn. It's safe for babies.

for-sale Orange County, CA plant sale tomorrow (Saturday May 12)

I've got more seedlings than room and they're ready for a transplant. I'm conveniently located near the Orange County fairgrounds. They start at $5, but I'm generous with the discounts when you buy a bunch. Here are some of the ones that are most overdue for a new home. They've been hardened...

    AJs 2012 Season - A Pictorial Discussion

Congrats on the ripe scopion! I have some manzanos already, but those are easy. My C. Chineses took a beating in overwintering and I'll probably only have 1 or 2 that I think will come back. The rest of your plants look great too. Hope you have a great season. Congrats on the ripe scopion...

    Tansplant/Shift up question

When I've repotted to late, the tiny pods stay tiny and then ripen before much new growth occurs, seems to delay the next flush a bit. If you trim roots they may drop. Now I would take the pods off. Here's what I am doing: 1st prune back. Wait a week or so for the wounds to heal. Wash...

    Maxi Bloom

1tsp / gallon is good. For young seedlings you can alternate between that and water.
