    Hit and run-style hot peppers

What varieties would you suggest if I'm looking for something where the heat hits, but doesn't stick around long?

    Strongly self-pollinating peppers?

Glad to hear!  I have both of those growing outdoors this year, so will save some seeds and try them indoors.  I've grown Aji Lemon Drop before and quite like it.  This is my first time with Melocoton.  Lots of pods, very, very pale yellow in colour, with a purplish tinge.  Hoping they start to...

    Strongly self-pollinating peppers?

Yeah, fair enough, that's quite possible.  I'm just curious about the claim that peppers don't produce as much during the winter months.  Might be true, but I've never had a ton of luck getting them to produce indoor, even with a variety of hand pollination methods.  Maybe I'm just not very good...

    Strongly self-pollinating peppers?

That's fascinating.  Honest question, since I don't know, how does a plant tell seasons apart?  My understanding was that it came down to light cycles (hours of daylight vs dark), but that variable is controlled in a grow tent, so shouldn't matter.  Temperature is stable inside the house too.

    Strongly self-pollinating peppers?

Always have a fan blowing on them - helps to strengthen the plant as well.  While all plants are self-pollinating, some do it much more readily than others.  That's what I was getting at.

    Strongly self-pollinating peppers?

Awesome!  Thanks!  How do you like the pepper otherwise?

    Strongly self-pollinating peppers?

I'll be growing indoors this winter again.  I've tried hand pollinating before, with okay results, but was wondering if y'all can suggest any peppers that tend to self-pollinate effectively?

indoor Indoor growers: DIY or commercial grow tent?

I recently got into a house and would like to re-start growing indoors.  Previously I had used a walk-in closet as a grow environment.  I'd like to grow indoors since I have a very shaded yard and a short season.   Anyone have thoughts on the advantages or disadvantages of purchasing a grow...

plant Can you ID this Pepper Plant?

Holy crap, I was about to post the exact same pepper. I have a picture that looks almost identical to yours. One of my plants was a goastweed, but I lost the marker for the pot. Sweet, thanks.

hot-sauce Worst Hot sauce you've ever tasted?

If I go out to a friend's place or a restaurant and all they have for hot sauce is Tabasco (original), I just pass. I don't think it's horrible, but for my tastes the oakiness overwhelms and it's too thin.

    Expiration Dates

I generally disregard expiration dates or totally ignore them. That being said, there are lots of people doing stupid things who are still alive, and I just might be one of them.

indoor Keeping plants short and bushy for a small indoor grow

I've been growing indoors for about a year now. Today I moved several of my older plants outside. I'm not even sure they'll survive the winds, but I needed space in my grow area. I've been having a bit of a problem with plants getting not exactly leggy, but not all that bushy, either. At the...

    Yellow Brain Strain Balti Chicken

Looks great. I dig the plate you used, better than my old standard corelle. A little bit of cilantro on top would be killer, too.

recipe-help Need advice on best bloody mary recipe

I don't do bloody marys, but I love caesars which aren't too far off. The best hot sauce for caesars in my experience, bar none, is yellow seven turkey slap. It marries very well with the drink and gives it a nice kick.

Visiting San Diego and San Francisco

This sounds excellent. I'll fire you guys an e-mail here in late June and we'll figure out a plan. I'm staying at my brother's place near the USD campus (I think that's where it is, anyways), but I should be pretty mobile. Looking forward to it.
