food What was the last spicy meal you cooked?

Okay, fine, be that way. Chicken and rice casserole, dosed with chipotle and habanero powder.

food What was the last spicy meal you cooked?

No pictures, but the last spicy thing I made was a beef and cabbage stir fry the other day, with lots of sambal oelek and some habanero puree to give it a nice burn.

hot-sauce I came across blairs sauce finally

The only Blair's sauces I've had that I like are Pure and Jalapeno. Pure is tasty, but not that hot, and Jalapeno is mild but very very tasty. I like using it when making pulled pork.

    review HBD's 1498 Video Review

Depends on where you live. Here in Seattle, I can find them in a couple of stores with good hot sauce selections.

condiment McCormick Fiery 5 Pepper rub

This is from McCormick's Grill Mates lines of rubs and seasoning mixes. Came in a 3oz plastic jar with a shaker lid. Brick red, with a mix of granules from small grains of salt to larger bits of dried onion and peppers. Has texture to it, not just a powder. Looks good. Ingredients: Sea salt...

Picked up a peck of new to me peppers; looking for suggestions

Stopped in at a latino/peruvian market today and picked up some peppers I haven't seen before: Dried: mulato entero, morita, and cascabel. Canned: aji amarillo jar of paste/puree: aji panca. Moritas are apparently smoked jalapenos that aren't done enough to be chipotles. Never even heard of...

    Hello from Seattle

I had to wrestle the bottle away from one of my coworkers the other night. :) I don't know if I'll be able to make the party or not... with any luck, I'll be back from Burning Man a few days before, and might not be up for anything else that soon.

    Hello from Seattle

I've only been seriously getting into hot foods in the last 6 months or so. Current favorite hot sauce is HBD's 1841, but I picked up a bottle of Texas Creek's Ghost Fire last week that's giving it a run for its money. Lurking here for a while and recognizing the brand as being made by one of...

review Mrs. Renfro's Ghost Pepper Salsa Review

I really liked the mango habanero salsa, but this one's just not doing it for me. I'm going to have to try mixing it in with something else to use up the jar...

Heartbreaking Dawns 1498 Cauterizer in Cook's Illustrated

I'm much more of an 1841 fan, but yay for HBD! That said, I'm kind of surprised at a couple of the sauces tested. Frostbite is explicitly meant for just adding heat without extra taste, and when you're looking for a good-tasting hot sauce... Picking a special reserve instead of one of Dave's...
