    2016, starting late....

2015 was mostly a flop for my grow.... Only ended up getting a handful or so of chocolate habs across two plants.... I had about 20 varieties I started seeds for.... Yeah.... Late start, haven't even germinated anything yet.... Just moved into a new house a month ago, sitting on half an acre...

    Chocolate habs

It's a different burn profile, and a year or so since I've had a ghost, but I'd still go as far to say the chocolate hab I tried was on par with the ghosts I've tried.... I think some still comes down to preferences and tastes.... Had a buddy who would eat whole ghosts, suffer through it and...

    Chocolate habs

Thanks for all of the replies.... I'll have to see if maybe it was just that pod that was way hotter than I was expecting....

    Chocolate habs

I'll get some pics up tomorrow.... Had my first multi-pod harvest from one of my two surviving chocolate hab plants.... Waited for this harvest to check one of the pods out.... I got a surprise.... I cut into one, had a moment of disappointment as my first glimpse didn't show any seeds, then...

    rhm3769 2015 Glog - few pics....

Will be adding a few pics throughout the day. Have about a dozen pods on one chocolate hab plant, a few are starting the waiting to ripen game. Made a post a bit ago about finding a great golden digger wasp setting up residence in the raised bed, the hole only stayed for a few days, no other...

Spicy Food and Improved Mortality Study

Alot to read through, did it mention a heat level? I would imagine there's a "sweet spot" where a certain heat level, with the individual's tolerance, allows the max beneficial amounts of everything contained in the pods.

Made it through the first round of flowers dropping, then something eating through the flowers before they were ready to open, now I have at least one so far with a pod. Cleaned up the bed a bit over the weekend, pulled the one plant that was beyond recovering, found out why it took them so...

    Chocolate Habanero

Mine are clear, never had a green phase.... Assuming they'll stay clear.... Temps have been causing flower drop and/or something's been pulling them off before they get pollinated....

Saw a monstrous cicada killer wasp today, too.... About the size of a AA battery. Kind of scary just from the size....

http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/galveston/beneficials/beneficial-54_great_golden_digger_wasp.htm Think I have one of these hanging around.... Was trying to get a picture of some of the chocolate hab flowers that opened this morning, a wasp flew by so I backed off and checked out the other...

    This years HEAT

I have to laugh a bit every time the weather reports say a cold front is moving through and the low for the day is mid 70's and its already in the 80s when I get in the car at 7:30am, like it has been for the last month, at least, whether or not a "cold" front was moving through....

I'll have open flowers in a day or two or so on the lone plant....

Do you ever wonder how hot something you are eating would be if you hadn't built up a tolerance?

Yeah, its been awhile since I've gotten hiccups, back when I started growing peppers, anything above habanero levels would do it, but I could eat white habs without issue other than the hiccups. On the topic, though.... Was just thinking about it today, had nachos for lunch with jalapeƱos...

    breeding Planned crosses

If I remember right from everything I've read, smaller is dominate to larger as is lower heat is dominate to higher heat, not sure on the shapes though.... However, I expect size and heat are determined by a series of genes, like color, rather than the classic single pair offering only one or...

http://imgur.com/a/MUALP Chocolate hab with a wasp stealing my cedar.... Same chocolate hab about to flower.... Crazy tomato plant I pulled up, noticed it had a good amount of roots still attached and decided to plant in the raised bed when it was only a foot tall and just started branching and...
