2014 Glog I guess

I told myself I wouldn't make a Glog but I decided to so here is my planned grow list:

MOA Scotch Bonnets
Caribbean Red Habaneros
White Habaneros
Naga Morich
Yellow 7 Pot
Piment de Espelllte
Trinidad Moruga Scorpion
Carolina Reaper
Red Bhut Jolokia
Peach Bhut Jolokia
Bell
Jamaican Mushroom (maybe???)
Orange habanero

Maybe some others too if I find more I want to grow.

First of all, I say Jamaican mushroom maybe because I ordered scotch bonnets from Pepper Joe and a person I trust has told me these tend not to be bonnets but actually Jamaican mushrooms. I'm not mad because I wanted those as well. (It's also not an attack on you Joe). A very generous member sent me MOA scotch bonnets so I'm very thankful for that and maybe I will have both. We'll see what becomes of them.

I'm gonna have more of certain peppers (scotch bonnet, moruga scorpion, habaneros, etc.) because most of the powders and sauces I make and have plans to make have a Mexican/Caribbean/Gulf theme. :D My final grow is also going to depend on what grows because I'm having somewhat bad germination rates. NBD.

Got about 20 plants germinated so far, with more that I hope will pop up and plenty more that still need to be planted. Most of the babies are in red solo cups under pretty weak lights for right now. I may need to invest in a better one although I don't have plans to try and get them to fruit inside. They are just getting big for spring.

Also have these three (Carolina reaper, peach bhut and "scotch bonnet") in my hydroponic set up. Again they are bound for the outside. My cheap lights aren't strong enough to fruit plants so I'm kind just fooling around with hydroponics for fun and to see how big I can get them for spring.

In a few weeks I'll be getting out and digging the decent sized garden plot that the peppers are going to go into in spring. Those pictures will be up once I get the hard work done! Debating on making it a raised bed or not. Thoughts and advice on that and anything else is certainly appreciated. Most of yall know more than me. I'm kinda looking forward to updating this thorough out the season now that I've started it...

I just want to know how you got them to grow in beer foam. ;)

Actually, you'll appreciate your log later. I found, after creating my own first glog, that I referred back to it the following year. I had documented my thoughts about the grow in my glog, and found the notes useful. Anything from "don't do THAT again!" to what happened with weather changes to whether I wanted to grow a particular variety again or not.

Nice grow list. A lot a variety without going overboard. It's early yet, though. Plenty of time to over do it.

I was going to say latte, and I don't even drink lattes.

+many on that

I'm sure I will end up adding more. I have already thought of some more I think I should grow.
What would be some other peppers I might not be thinking of that would be useful on Caribbean recipes?

A lot of Caribbean people use "seasoning" peppers in addition to hot peppers. Seasoning peppers may still have some heat to them, but the main purpose of them is to add flavor. Trinidad perfume is a very prolific one I've grown (and is mui bueno when candied, btw), Grenada seasoning, St. Lucia seasoning (red and yellow), Tobago seasoning, and Trinidad seasoning are some of the ones sold at chileplants.com. There are people on this site who can probably hook you up with some seeds, as well.

Never heard of the "seasoning" concept... but I like the sound of that! I may have to start looking into some of those varieties...

Well SanPatricio was nice enough to contact me and offer to send me seasoning seeds. I'm gonna have a bunch more to add now. The people on this site really rock! Thanks SanPatricio!

Nice job with your peeps. The weaker the light the closer it should be.
It's a compact fluorescent in one of those clamp lights. The problem is that I can't put it as close as it needs to be and still get light to all if the plants.. I went for a cheap option when I bought them. And that was before I knew anything about grow lights.
I put a little space heater near the seedlings to keep it warm because they are growing slow.

These are all the ones that haven't germinated yet...
