2017 Grow Log - 200 plants, 30 varieties

Hello all.  Last year was the year I intended to "go big" and start my hot sauce company, but as chance would have it, the soil at my largest garden spot was terrible, all clay.  I had planted about 150 plants there but none of them grew over 6 inches tall.  I had another spot where I planted about 35 MOAs, just one variety because I wanted to get a bunch of non-crossed seeds.  So as it turned out those bonnets were the only plants I had.  But I estimate they produced about 4 lbs per plant, which was way more than I expected.  I still started the hot sauce company, but I wound up with only about 320 bottles of sauce.  I just sold out of it last weekend, people seemed to really like it.

This year I have a new garden spot with much better soil.  I started the plants right about a month ago.

I made the rack myself, obviously.  After separating some of the multiples, I now have 266 plants on it total.  Planning to give some away and sell the extras at the farmer's market.  The lights are on 24 hours in case you were wondering.

I'm excited!  200 plants is serious business!  I'll be back with more pictures as things progress.

Congrats on the second place position.
I'd like to see what the fuss is about.
So if it's available I'd like to try the yellow 7pot sauce, if not the berry afraid sounds good.

Just placed an order hope that's ok i remember you sent me some free pods last year and part of the deal was id tell my friends about your sauce now they can have a taste ;)

Awesome.  I'll get it out on Monday.  You should get a tracking number from the shopping cart system.  I sent you some yellow 7 pots right?  Aren't they an awesome pepper?  They make up the bulk of my plants this year.  I grew those in isolation from other peppers so the seeds shouldn't be crossed with anything.  I saved thousands of them.

They really are very good peppers a little too hot for the wife o well more for me

Congratulations on 2nd place! That is awesome.
Sounds like a great giveaway. I'd love to try the Aji Madness if you're willing to ship to Denmark, and if there is any sauce left in the giveaway. (I'll of course pay the extra postage).

Not sure of the count still available if any but I would like to try one.

Very nice kitchen, that's one heck of a nice processing room you have.

Got mine today. Thanks a bunch Badger.
It's a good sauce.
Can pick out the baccatum flavor right away and then some annuum heat to Kik things off. It finishes with the awesome yellow seven pot flavor and chinense heat. Solid burn lasting 5-10min, not too hot. 1-10 scale I'd say about 5.
Nice consistency, w/ little bits of Chile. Excellent value @$5+s/h. I'd pay $8-$10+s/h no problem.
Good stuff. Great job. Thanks again.

I also got mine today. I'm not much of a sauce reviewer, so I'll just say that, to me, the heat was an instant, Annuum burn that finished off like a Chinense. Fantastic, sweet flavor! Gonna throw some on some taquitos. Thank you very much! I love it!

A lovely bottle of the Yellow 7 Pot was on the doorstep when I got home this afternoon.

I am yet to try it, but it won't be too long.

I didnt take a pic but I received the Chipotle

Holy mother of fire. Instantly overwhelmed my mouth.

Not your every day sauce but definitely has a place for those extreme sauce lovers.

I took it to a taco tuesday joint and let others try it.

General opinion was great flavor but DAMN is it HOT.

6 hrs later I was regretting using so much. It is powerful.

Had a slight vinegar overtone but the fire really took away from my ability to pull out individual flavor components.

Texture and blend is spot on. Too hot for me but definitely has a spot for those wanting that special heat in a bold complex sauce.

Thanks for letting me try it.
I agree the price point is worth $8 easily.

lol, and I thought that was one of the milder ones.  It has the same ratio of vinegar as all the others, but I think it might have benefited from a bit more.  Vinegar complements smokey flavors really well imo.

Glad you liked it, even if it didn't like you.  I must have a cast iron stomach because I go through hot sauce in general pretty quickly and never have any problems.  Older guys at the farmers market are all the time telling me how they used to love hot stuff but they can't handle it any more.  I'm terrified that'll happen to me one day.
