2017 Indoor Winter Hydroponics

Hello!

So, I'm growing a bit of everything in my house. I am going to track my grows through this.

I have Boston pickling, Diva, and lemon cucumbers growing. Carbon, black Cherry, red cherry grape, and stupice tomatoes. Butterhead Lettuce, three types of Peppers, and sweetness hybrid corn.

4 b.p. cukes planted 9/2/17 60 to 90 days and strong.

2 lettuce planted 10/20/17
6 Lettuce planted 11/4/17

I'll update correct dates for tomatoes but some of these have already been topped and are growing stronger stems.

Two fast growing plants in small DWC. Black Cherry Tomatoe and Boston Pickling Cuke.

All basement plants are in flood trays that are flooded twice a day up to 1 inch.

Nutrients: Masterblend 38.

Observation: heat in basement versus heat in Bathroom with DWC have different results but planted at the same time
Late to the party here but planning something similar so hoping for advice. How big of a container do you need for a head of lettuce? I have 1 quart mason jars so that would be awesome, but not sure if they are big enough...

Sorry for the late reply! Just saw this. A mason jar works perfect. I did 1.5 inch rockwool with a 3 inch net cup but that's giving it a lot of space. You'd be fine with less!

Also, one cuke getting bigger.should be edible in a week.

Created a new setup for seedlings. Spinach, lettuce, radish, some beans and a few tomato plants.

Not sure if I'm going for dwc on this but I'm leaving them in the coco pellets.

Eggplants forming! One out of 7.

I usually pinch the flower from the outside of the petals every morning and night to pollinate the flowers. After they are pollinated, the flower petals will have this sticky residue on them and will either fall off or slide off with ease. When this happens, I know the bloom was fully pollinated and leads to this little picture below. I tried to take a picture of the flower with residue on the right.

Nothings better than starting early! Are you planning an indoor only grow or moving it outside.

One week update on the seedlings.

I absolutely love white bright roots so see below!

The beans are taking off. The black Simpson lettuce is forming well and the spinach is forming its third set of leaves.

I planted another set of spinach, lettuce, cucumber and a new variety for me
..black beauty egg plant.

I have a patio eggplant plant that is about a foot and a half tall but it still takes time to pump out more. Hopefully this will be the in between plant!

On a lighter note, my moringa trees have finally shot up a stem from the seeds I got. All will grow until about a foot tall and then I'll keep one; give the rest away.

Very nice. Roots doing their thing in the kratky.
My spinach is also at 3 leaves, but i might have started earlier, and I just had to transplant. So, yours will probably outpace mine in that system.
I started reading this glog the other day... from the top, before I realized it started about a year ago.
I have enjoyed the pictures and your approach to indoor growing being different from what I'm used to.

Ha ha...yea, it's an old thread but come 2019, I'll start a new one.

This is my first time doing spinach, I have failed at all other attempts..I was never able to germinate in paper towels either. I think spinach just doesnt like me. This time, it was two seeds per coco pellet and I gave up on the rockwool medium..

Let's see who's grows faster... I believe the soil approach with nutes really boosts growth. I've been following your glog from day 1.

Ok. Had to post early. This plant back here is an old pic first then see the next. We had a huge growth spurt overnight that spans 6 inches plus and thick stems! Woo
