7-Pot Barrackpore

What is your opinion on this strain? I saw CmpMan included the Barrackpore chocolate in his powder, but while I see a couple of threads where people are growing it and mentioning it's heat, there doesn't seem to be much detail.

I see two mentioned, the red and chocolate. Are they stable? Productivity, pod size, flavor? Worth growing as a seperate strain along with the other 7-Pots?

I'm still sciencing out my retirement hobby dream of a boutique sauce and seasoning business, so trying to figure out if something is unique enough, useful enough and productive enough to warrant growing specifically for sauce and powders is what I'm mostly doing with my growing at this point,

Thanks for any info you can offer. Next year's list is already pushing the limits of what I can take care of in containers, and while I'm going to experiment again with growing in the ground I haven't always gotten the best production out of those plants so I don't want to start moving new trial strains into the dirt and end up giving them a bum rap because of my growing conditions.

Thanks!

Similar to red 7, but bigger, more elongated gnarly pods. Bigger more productive plants than red 7 (at least for me). I've never grown the choco strain, but the red is stable and is one of my favorites. Very hot. Give it a go!

Have you ever tried plastic mulch? It works great in our climate. I'm not sure how far north you are, but my dirt plants always do better than my container plants. Barely have to water them too.

Ed (naganumbness) has a video review of barrackpore somewhere around here.

Thanks for the info, sounds like one I need to try.

I've tried the plastic mulch for both peppers and tomatoes, I think I've got 450 feet of it left in the shed from this year and I was going to try again next year. Unfortunately I'm in a high wind area where we see days of 40-70mph winds several times a summer, it's always gotten blown off and damaged the plants. I saw a couple of photo's in a thread by Spicy Chicken where I noticed he just had bricks on top of the plastic to hold it down, I know he's somwhere in NE Wisconsin as well, so I assum he deals with the same kind of winds. I don't know why that never occurred to me; I had assumed I needed to weight down the entire length on both sides of the plant with something heavy and I was totally going another direction with what I was planning to try.

The watering is definately the biggest PIA with the containers. I have several business trips a summer where I have to ask the wife and kids to do things, and usually a family vacation where I have to have a neighbor take care of things. This year during the one stretch of 90+ degree days we had we were on vacation and I was sweating bullets that the peppers were not getting watered twice a day like I knew they would need. Fortunately my sister in law listened about how much water they would need.

As far as I'm aware the red barrackpore is stable but I haven't heard of a stable brown one. They are probably still being bred out. I love their shape and deeper red color than the normal sevens, and I hear the burn has an unusual sharpness to it that could be interesting! I've been trying to get some barrackpore seeds for next year but haven't found any yet, does anyone know a place where I can purchase some? I don't really have much to trade right now since mold took most of my seed stock and absolutely refuse to get them free so don't even try haha. Judy's site seems to list them as 'sold out' and I've tried for about a month now to contact her about it to no avail sadly.

Thanks guys

Very nice flavour for the red Barrackpore and the heat level is extreme.
I once had a lady lick the inside of a fresh pod and a minute later she was throwing up. :D

Yes, I got info that the brown wasn't stable in a PM. Looks like I'll have to start begging for a seed source soon, sounds like this one is one I should grow.

I'm hoping she just had low tolerance and it's not quite that extreme. That could be my wife with a serrano, she really doesn't like anything remotely spicy.

I licked the knife I used to cut open a TS Morouga Blend this morning, kissed her a few hours later and she's still acting like I did something wrong.

One of my favorites, heat on the extreme side, prolific grower in pots and easy to germinate.

I have some seeds that I would give you but since you're against that I can charge you a bunch of money. Just trying to work with you here.

Hmmm, I'm all about sharing the love, but I'm not above capitalism either. I'll send you a PM.

Edit: I think I get it, you read mrz1988's post where he said he refused to get the seeds free. Twasn't me!

Oh yeah baby thats what im talkin about!

My overwintered Barrackpore is no more but my girl found my bag of seeds woot!

This is the only strain of trinidad superhot I have ever eaten whole, and it put me in a world of hurt. Easily 20 of the worst minutes of my life. So yeah, they are an awesome strain that grow on strong, healthy plants. Mine also grew out the same as all the pictures above, so it seems pretty stable.

I recently grew some seeds labelled as 7-pot but wasn't sure which variety, one of my plants has three pods now and they look to be Barrackpore... not sure I know what I'm getting myself into :P

Wow, those pods look amazing!

I'm definitely going to have to add these to my grow list, especially if they germinate easily and grow so well!

Do you have pics? I'm sure someone here would be willing to tell you what they are :)

OK, here we go:

These are my three plants

These two small ones are currently growing some pods, the one in the center and the big one on the left look like Barrackpore to me and the one to the right I have no clue :eh:
